Hmm so Elite Dangerous is currently £30, and if you pre-order the Horizons expansion that's £40, unless you already own the game in which case you get a £10 discount.

According to their forums, if you don't own ED you will get that with the pre-order when Horizons is released:

It's a bit more complicated than the original. :) Bought it, and finally started playing it for a couple of hours tonight. Mostly training missions, then accepted some mission to buy food, couldn't work out how to buy cargo, went to another system, couldn't work out how to find a space station, got attacked, someone else turned up and started shooting the guy attacking me, I accidentally hit him once or twice, then came close to killing the original attacker, then things went a bit pear shaped.

Advantage of a cheap ship is, I guess, free to replace. ;)

Haven't had time to play it as much as I'd like, mainly because I've spent a lot of time migrating servers to AWS, which probably makes my decision to buy it at this price rather than the earlier offer which included the expansion a good one, as that'll be on sale before I get around to it!

I re-did all the tutorials, I still get destroyed in the advanced combat mission though. :(

Decided to just give the real game a go anyway, picked up a mission and delivered a thing from one place to another and got 61k credits.

I feel rich.
