Q4 2014 apparently. Winter is coming!

Somehow I suspect this winter will go very quickly. ;)

Will add this to my list, but I hope it comes with auto-docking - really can't be bothered with that malarky...

couldn't you buy a docking computer in the original?

Yes, but I'd rather not have manual docking from the start...

Had a wee look on the Elite Dangerous site and was a little surprised to say the least. The game itself on pre-order is £35, not too bad . However they are charging £50 for the Beta version. The price of the Beta does include the £35 for the full release but still £15 to run a beta is a wee bit too much to expect from players. Yes I loved the original and E:D looks spectacular but it still seems a bit of a brassy to ask for a payment. Other members may have more experience of Beta version and their costs but I have never noticed any charges for tem.
Anywhoo, I may pre-order E:D now and then wait for it to be released.

Aye, "give us 15 more quid and beta test our software for us, you know, that thing we usually pay testers for in this industry."

Release date is 16th December. Is this the only place you can order it from?

Yeah, I'm going to hold out in the hopes of a Steam release.

I don't know how likely it is, though, since part of the Kickstarter was the promise that the game would be DRM-free :s

If keeping promises is anything to go by... Online only!

I wonder if Kickstarters will start wanting their money back.

I think there is some debate over what on-line only actually means in terms of E:D...

So there'll be a single player option, it just won't be completely offline because it needs to draw some data from the servers regarding the game universe etc?

Doesn't sound like the end of the world, although I was planning on playing online anyway.
