Looks like someone realised a headset war was a bad idea at this stage of the game:

Quote:
Virtual reality pioneer Oculus has removed software locks that stopped people playing games made for its Rift headset on a rival device.

The locks were introduced after VR fans made software called Revive that let people move or port Oculus games on to the HTC Vive.

Oculus Rift just had another price drop, to £399. I'm seriously tempted.

Vive seems a better choice for standing in the middle of a room but my PC is not in my living room so that's never going to happen.

Playing Elite Dangerous and Zen Pinball in my office, now that's practical.

So I wasn't going to, because I priced a Geforce GTX 1070 up at £395, so that would be £800 for VR, then I checked the minimum specs (I thought mine, the 960, was just under when I got it) and I have a 970 which is in the recommended category.

Hopefully I won't end up buying a new GFX card anyway for one reason or another.

Elite VR here I come? (Yeah I'm mostly going to be playing Pinball FX 2 and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes!!!)

I wouldn't recommend buying a GPU at the moment anyway. Crytocurrency miners have depleted almost all stocks and what little remains is now selling for ~£100 above the normal asking price.

Plus Vega and Volta are just around the corner.

As for VR, a decent steering wheel + Project Cars looks like a winner.
