I can see why, given the global situation, but I can also see why a director with a vision, hoping their masterpiece would be viewed on the big screen, or Imax, has to sit back and settle for half the profits, a fraction of the adulation, and virtually no spectacle.

Its just a bad time for the movie industry due to covid. Most cinema goers are not going to the cinema as its in an enclosed space, and requires sitting there for 2 or 3 hours breathing in the air.

I usually go to the cinema either alone or with wife and the grandchildren at least 10 times a year, but this year only saw one film, and that was before March when the hs[at]t hit the fan.

I am actually amazed they are still making movies at the moment at all. All sectors of industry are being hit bad with lockdowns.

They obviously think Disney+ is their new revenue model and are copying them. I have no idea how many people have Disney+, but I suspect it isn't anywhere near as many as Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Fair to say one of the only reasons to get Disney+ is The Mandalorian. They tried to force a lot of parents' arms by removing Disney XD from the regular Sky channels and making it only available on their streaming service, but even my kids just moved onto something else.
