The first film is set in 1937, the second in 1950, and the third in 1959. sort of recounts the legend of Ip Man at key points in his life. They stand alone pretty well. You don't need to see one to enjoy any other.

Loved all of them and while they are stand alone I binged them one after another and wouldn't say that was a bad shout :)
