I though I read a little while back from one of the Broccoli's (or someone else senior) that Bond should just be a man. It's not sexist or anything, the role is a man. I agree so this, if true and not a red herring, is surprising...

But according to that article, James Bond is still a man but his job title has been passed on to a new female agent.

Thats surely an April fools joke.

If true, I would not go see a female Bond, I would just boycott it. Its will end up just like that recent Ghostbusters woman edition film that really bombed, they had no chance competing against the original two Ghostbusters films. It was a total box office failure.

Anyway, Bond is a matco, brutal, cold calculating, character in the books, ie, its a mans part, so its just not right, it is taking Political correctness to the extremes that seems to be the in thing to do now. Re Doctor Who as a woman.

Mind you, to balance this out, I critise some men as Bond as well, as I always thought Roger Moore's protrayal of Bond as too 'namby pamby' whimsical and occasionally comical, only saved by the good stories. I would say Sean Connery and Danial Craig are the nearest to the books.

A spy movie with a female lead? No problem.

A Female 007 movie? Unnecessary.

The recent Doctor Who is okay, I’ve got no problem with the casting, but I’m not too hot on the writing, while for That Ghostbusters movie, it was just a crap movie, and would have been, regardless of the gender of the cast.

Edit: although going by that article, I can see this movie using a classic bit of fridging to get Bond back in the saddle.

I'm way behind with Bond movies anyway, never even seen a Daniel Craig one but 007 is James, not Jamie, Bond.
If they want to make a 006 or 008 with a female lead then fine but, as happens sometimes in sport, if James is dead then the number needs retiring.

I'm not going to get all bent out of shape over it. When it's finished I'll have a look at the trailers and reviews and see what if I feel like lashing out on the over priced popcorn for it.

Nailed it in a sentence.

I was looking forward to Idris Elba before they went down that route...

TBH on Skyfall I'd have to watch the titles with the sound off.
That god awful monotonous drone from Adele used to get my hackles up enough when it was on the radio.

I am so far behind the curve with so many movies I should really have my membership of this site revoked.
