HMV Classic DVD series.

HMV are doing a few classic British and Hollywood films on DVD at £5.99.
Has anyone bought any?
I'm tempted but can't find any reviews of what the transfers are like. There's no extras on each I know that much.

Got a link to a listing? Although haven't been in an HMV, or used the webshop since they went under and were resurrected all those years ago...

I always find HMV rather expensive, and can usually find the same product cheaper on-line. Amazon, Ebay, etc.

Maybe thats why they went under the first time round.

I do a lot of shopping in our local HMV. Stocks some pretty obscure stuff at decent prices. Also have some good offers. It is nothing like it used to be. The CD's by the bands I like tended to be £15 or more in the old HMV so I stopped going. Since the reopening it has become a lot more across the board. Stocks new releases from some pretty small acts at the same prices as Amazon.

I suspect that those are merely previously released discs/transfers repackaged in HMV livery. New transfers cost money, and studios will really only shell out for those if they're releasing HD now. I think the real draw here is the uniformity of the collector's packaging.

I took a random sampling of five titles, stuck them into DVD Pricecheck, and found them cheaper online, although the 2 fer 10 deal makes the price around the same for some. But the sleeves won't be part of the same 'team'.

Cheers. I suspected as much.
