A space odyssey was brilliant just with the space shuttle scene of the journey to the moon via the space station, with the Blue Danube Waltz. Just so inspirational as an aerospace engineering marvel. Watch that scene every year as one of my favorite Si-fi scenes of all time.

The minute that monkey throws the bone up in the air and it transforms to the space shuttle scene and that me, I am gob smacked! Everything else, the monkeys, the black cubes, Hal2000, the space child, is just so so (Yawn). Sorry Mr AC Clarke

Yet, the one movie Hollywood has not made yet, with one of his books is Rendezvous with Rama, which would be a classic. Just hope it will be made soon, as it would be visually stunning.

Here is a fan based trailer...

Have to agree that Matrix revolutions (yawn) falls into the category of trilogies, that I call 'identical'

This is where, after you have seen them all, you have problems remembering what was the individual story in each of them, as it just becomes a total blur.

The worst film for this, and not sure why it was not in the boring category, was 'Back to the Future', as it is so blurring using the same actors throughout,  that I can no longer watch any of the trilogy.

Trilogies to keep them fresh should have links to the previous film, but should also be good as a stand alone film, and one of the best trilogies (although they did more than three), was Aliens. The first being a 'jump out your skin' monster movie, the second almost a space war film, the third a kind of dark prison film. You remember them all individually, and that is not boring.

Of the top 20, I've only seen four- 3,11,13 & 20. The other 16 I've never wanted to see.

Wash your mouth out!  It's set in the 50's/80's, 'future' and the Wild West 1880's.  No blurring for me!

Think I've seen 4 of them, a couple in bits and pieces as Annie likes them (Far & Away).

But to be honest, I've always liked the Matrix Trilogy

I don't mind the Matrix Trilogy (think the first is on a different level to the other two) as almost 'popcorn' flicks but they became too pretentious, up their own arse 'deep' and I won't pretend I understand what's going on every moment.

Agree 'Back to the future' is like marmite, you either love it or hate it.

Agree the first film of the Matrix was good, but the follow ups.... Pah!

As for the boring list, there are quite a lot that I have never wanted to see and never will see, as just do not like the topic.

50 shades of grey
Blair witch project
Brokeback mountain
The Postman
Seven years in Tibet
Meet Joe black
Noah, I did watch at cinema, but never again as they had him crazy psychotic.

Would you actually describe some of those films as "boring" though?

That's the sort of response you'd get from a 9 yr old boy if you asked him what he thought of Citizen Kane. Doesn't make the film boring. Maybe the viewer wasn't up to it?

Of the ones I've seen (or can remember) that I would describe as ACTUALLY boring: Lincoln, Noah, The Artist and the absolute pinnacle of mind-crushing ennui: The Tree of Life.

I did like these films: Vanilla Sky, Seven Years in Tibet (yes really), Blair Witch, 2001 (f***ing obviously), Showgirls (not really)
