It's getting slaughtered by critics (albeit the same critics that liked Gashbusters).

Here is a good article on the film's many production problems:

tl;dr the version in cinemas is not the director's original vision, but rather a lighter, more commercially friendly test audience approved cut.

on the radio yesterday the entertainment reporter was saying it's usually a bad sign when they are told to interview the stars, a day or 2 before they have the press screening, which is what happened here.

I had a quick look on metacritic, some reviews are full of praise, and there seems to be some "it's not Marvel" comments in the reviews, rather than reviewing on it's own merits.

Seems to a certain extent they've made a funnier, light hearted film, ppl moaned that DC films are too dark, and now they're getting criticsed for making a more fun film.

I'd quite like to see it as it looks fun to me, I doubt I'll get chance though.

Deadpool is amazing but I do agree with you DVD's are not worth over a fiver these days.

I have been wondering lately if the whole raison d'etre of this site is under threat.
Are DVD's and even Blu rays going the way of the VHS.

I can't recall the last time I bought a DVD and have every intention of using Netflix, Prime or one of the others when I decide which one to go for.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Bandi, do you have a multiregion dvd player? I gave my cousin all my UK DvDs but I have a stack (20-30) of R1 discs you can have for the cost of postage.

I haven't bought DVDs since 2007, but I do have over 1300 BDs... Physical media still offers the best quality. If it's a film I don't really care about owning I might stream/download it, but the must-haves are always physical.

The problem now is that people don't see any value in films, so aren't prepared to pay for them. Physical media is actually the cheapest it's ever been (DVDs used to be £18-£20 new back in the late 90s!), even at release, yet people wait months until stuff is bargain basement. That's why its in decline.

I remember with the PSOne, when Sony launched the "Platinum" range, it was seen as a brave move, making old, good games availables for £20, when RRP I think of new games was £40, shops however didn't like it, as customers would ask when a new release would be available on platinum!

the new Star Wars I pre-ordered, but I can't remember last time I got a new release on day 1, was probably The Complete Saga boxset ;)

However, I think a lot of that is mostly due to my circumstances changing, if it was just me and the missus still I'd have disposable income, and would probably still buy Blu Rays on day 1 if it was a film I really wanted to see but hadn't got round to at the cinema, or there was a ltd edition steelbook or something, or even a film I had seen at cinema but really enjoyed. Actually I've got steelbooks of Dark Knight Rises and Promethius, I preordered them but haven't seen them yet! That was another reason I stopped buying, even £5 films, it was starting to look like I owned more films I hadn't seen, than had!

I think for me my Blu-ray situation matches my Steam game situation, I have so many I've not watched or seen, buying day 1 releases is pointless, it'll be 6 months to a year before I see them, after which they'll be so much cheaper I've wasted money.

Star Wars Episode 7 was the first Blu-ray I think I've ever bought day 1, and the last DVD I did that for was more years ago than I can even work out.
