Page 1 of Uwe Boll. . . . . What a director! lol

I today saw House of the dead for the 1st time & recently watched Alone in the dark. Boy can this guy make films. Yes i am being sarchastic.

HOTD - terrible acting. nothing at all to do with the game (and i mean nothing). badly used soundtrack (could`ve been good). It wasnt as bad as i thought it was gonna be, in fact i quite enjoyed the first 40mins. But as soon as that "action" sequence starts up it just goes to poo. And what really is the point of having the game sequences in the film??

Alone in the dark - exact same problem. But at least that had 2 good actors (Dorff & Slater).

He`s like a bad (or even worse for most people) Paul Anderson. And yet they have givin him $50mil to make some other game to film. Dungeon seige! for god sake! this guy is easily the worst director on this planet.

He`s obviously a massive games fan. A little too keen, probably - he seems to want to make a movie of every game he`s played.

Nah, more like 21st century Roger Corman or Ed Wood, without the cult status. ;)

Although Anderson and Boll do share the same awful sensibilities.

I dont know. Give it a few years and a few more films and Im sure Boll will be mentioned in the same breath as Ed Wood.

Ive seen HoTD and Alone in the Dark and it mystifies me how this man is ever given any money. Alone in the Dark clearly had a reasonable budget, with a few hollywood faces (albeit faded faces).

I dont think its an exaggeration to say that this man is one of the least talented people working in movies at the moment and the fact that he keeps getting projects (albeit ones that are clearly going to be rubbish) makes you wonder just how good he is at giving head. If he ever stops getting work, he could make a lot of money in `other` fields.....

Anderson did do Event Horizon which was cool.

a discussion on another forum seems to suggest that Uwe Boll is financed by german companies who are given tax breaks by the government for doing so.
When the canadians were getting tax breaks we got cronenberg, when the germans get tax breaks we get Uwe Boll ho hum

I liked Event Horizon. Which leads me to believe it was ghost-directed. ;)

How do you pronounce Uwe? Is it oo-er, you-er, or even `oover? I remember doing a presentation at uni that involved the great Disney animator Ub Iwerks, which I pronounced as per the standard American - Ub I-werks. To my irritation, the ponce (sorry, lecturer) butted in with an "Oob Eewurks". "Fou-quer," I thought, but I didn`t say anything.

I assumed that its pronounced like `Duvet` given what I know about the beautiful german language.

Anyway, this should be required reading for anyone thinking of either financing, starring in or even watching a Uwe Boll movie. Very Funny.

And yeah, Anderson has got one up on Boll, because Anderson has, imho, produced one solid `good` movie. I really like Event Horizon, so its a shame this was the exception rather than the rule. Is `Soldier` still the most expensive film ever to go straight to video?

I thought you pronounced it like "eww". But i watched a documentary thing and they all sed ooo boll.

I don`t usually notice bad direction. Only good or styleised direction (Woo, Bay, Scott etc) But Boll, (on HOTD) tried to rip off all three of the above & completely failed miserably. He cannot direct action at all.

I actually have liked lots of andersons films. Re-watched Event Horozion recently and IMO it was worse than RE. I still really liked it, but it just wasnt as good. Soldier is sensless fun. As is both Resident Evils. Mortal Kombat didnt seem as good on a re-watch, but its still ok.
