For f*cks sake! Shrek 2 cut to get `U` certificate...

First off, it`s not the BBFC`s fault, but their stupid rules don`t help. It may only be a headbutt, but it`s frickin annoying. And it means I will have to buy the R1 DVD to go with my R2 Shrek DVD. I prefer keeping series of films that I buy all the same video format, like Indiana Jones NTSC (to get Temple of Doom uncut) and Lord of the Rings all PAL (helps with the running time ;) ).

As long as its not obvious it doesn`t really bother me, and I can understand them cutting it to get a U rating. Still not sure if I`m going to go see this yet though.

During post-production, Chewie, so it`s possible the cut might not be restricted to us delicate, sensitive Brits. :/

Unlikely. Dreamworks distribute the film in America, so they would have no reason to talk to the BBFC about anything. UIP (United International Pictures) distribute the film in the UK, so they would have made the cut. This happens more and more often with post-production "cuts" made by the distributor, such as The Italian Job and Daredevil.

i`ve seen the film, mainly cos i couldn`t wait until July, and the version i saw had the offending headbutt in it, and as soon as i saw it i said to my friends that will be cut from the UK version, GUARENTEED, and lo it has. not missing much though, and i felt it seemed out of place for a kids film personally.

Why does something like Shrek - which IS, when it comes down to it, a kids film - have a head butt in it anyway?

I said exactly the same thing when I saw it on Wednesday, if they cut all the headbutts from The Matrix there is little chance Shrek 2 would get away with it but then I didnt see why it had to be in the film, quite out of place.

Wasn`t it rather pathetic to include such a scene in a kids film (albeit a film for `big` kids) in the 1st place? There`s no particular need to have that level of violent interaction in an animated film is there? The director should wake up and smell what he`s shovelling if he thinks that the scene was necessary :(

Anyways, Shrek wasn`t a masterpiece - good but overrated and not really kids material anyway (both mine thought it was OK but didn`t demand I buy it - unlike the Pixar stuff....).
