Series 7 Friends - Warner Bros. T*SSERS

Imagine my delight to find out that the new series of Friends, currently showing on E4, will be released on DVD in march. Quite a rapid turnaround considering how long we had to wait for the series 6 DVD`s. Then I saw that only 4, yes 4, episodes were included on each disc. Sure they have the directors cut on, but this usually amounts to about 60 secs of additional footage. With a price like £19.99 (minimum) and with six DVD`s per series its going to cost me £119.94 to collect all the discs compared with £59.97 for all the previous series.
Friends is excellent, but I may have to re-evaluate my current situation. I could get the entire series on VHS for only £30 when the B.O.G.O.F offer starts.
I hope that Warner realise that they are making a large mistake, as I`m sure people wont pay that amount for all the discs.

And Warnker wonder why we buy R1,

Lets hope that season boxsets get released in the US now that Warner is reconsidering how to release TV series on dvd (due to the digital bits petition)

We should all stop buying WB titles in protest. Their Region 2 releases have been crap. They TRIED to introduce RCE. They`re going to rip us off with the "Friends" Series 7 discs.

If we all stopped buying their discs, they may realise that their bully-boy tactics won`t work.

But how likely is that to happen? As long as the gullible consumers of society keep buying WB discs. They`ll keep on being arseholes.

I certainly won`t be buying 4 "Friends" episodes for £20.

I for one was actually happy to see that they are doing something with the 7th season release. (I currently only own season 1, 5, and 6).
If you look at season 5 (As I understand season 4 & 5 were released first) it has an ugly menu and the picture quality is no where near DVD quality, but it`s acceptable. If you then look at the season 1, the menues are simple, but nicer, but the picture quality is really bad. I see purple lines around the faces, edges etc. Season 6 however is a delight. The menues are nice and the picture quality is high.

If you then look at extra features (I know the show is the most important, but some behind-the-scenes is always nice) season 1 has the music video, season 5 has two very short documentaries, and season 6 has nothing. I was happy to read that season 7 would include director`s cut version as well.

What I really dislike is that the DVDs are flippers! Why not make a dual layer? Is it really so much more expensive?
Let`s hope all the episodes will be released on R1 because then we will hopefully get single side dual layer discs, a perfect picture quality on all seasons, and some extra features.

However, you have to give WB a little credit. Since sason 7 is what`s playing in the US at the moment, they are pretty quick to release them on DVD.

There`s my rant, feel free to comment on it :)

I also wondered about something. Is it only episode 1-8 that will feature director`s cut and will all episodes be released at the same time? The news only mentioned volume 1 & 2 and episode 1-8. Is it because all episodes hasn`t been produced yet in the US?

Answer to Dalixam .

The U.S must have shown more than the first 8 episodes of series seven because the 4th Episode is already showing on British Sattelite tomorrow.(Thursday 8th Feb).

The only reason that they must have in the decision to release only the first 8 epidsodes initially is so everyone can save up to buy the rest!

I`m taping them from Sattelite, as I for one am not prepared to use nearly £200 of my hard earned cash to buy the whole series.

I would`nt even waste the video tape on them. once they`ve screened on E4 they`ll go to sky..then to C4 then repeated on E4 then sky then C4 by this time you`ll be sick to the high teeth cos this series is crap anyway.
