Day 9 is OVA's and half season sets... in other words a clearance day.

I'll always have time for Girls und Panzer but the Real Anzio Battle OVA isn't the best of the franchise.
Eromanga Sensei is good if an acquired taste, but at £20 for 12 episodes could have been a better bargain

But I would tear someone's arm off for Hanasaku Iroha. It's a great, charming, slice-of-life drama with endearing characters and a heart-warming story.

Day 10 is Swords amd Guns

The Standard Edition of Berserk is on today, and I believe I've already sung its praises  upthread.
Ditto Samurai Champloo.
Chivalry of a Failed Knight is the best of its oversubscibed and oft recycled genre.
Desert Punk is cheeky post-apocalyptic comedy sci-fi.
Slayers is classic D&D style anime comedy
While Trigun is just a classic

The last three titles may be just DVD only, but they're still good.

The Penultimate Day of the MVM Sale

And it looks like a lot of random stuff

A Lull in the Sea DVD is at a bargain price if you weren't tempted by the BD Collector's Edition
Chobits has admittedly dated, but it is fun
Heaven's Lost Property and the brilliant Hidamari Sketch both suffer from the fact that we only got the first season for each in the UK.
The Little Busters franchise is good, but a little redundant if you've already seen shows like Clannad and Kanon
Matoi the Sacred Slayer is a surpringly good Magical Girl show
RomeoXJuliet turns the Shakespearean tale into sci-fi adventure mystery, and does it pretty well.

The final day is lucky dip again.

A Blu-ray Mystery Bundle and a DVD Mystery Bundle. If you've bought anything else from the MVM sale this year, including the midweek mystery bundles, nothing will be duplicated in today's offerings.

2020.December, and it's time for a new set of 12 Days of Christmas Anime Sales. This year, MVM and Anime Limited are synchronising, with MVM launching their new day of sales in the morning, Anime Limited leaving it till the evening.

MVM Day 1

Today it's Collector's Editions at half price or less. Many of these will have standard edition releases as well if you don't want fancy packaging, artbooks and artcards and the like.

Armed Girls Machiavellism £39.99
Flip Flappers £39.99
Garden of Sinners £79.99
Girls' Last Tour £39.99
Grimoire of Zero £39.99
Log Horizon £49.99
Monogatari Series Second Season £59.99
Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun £24.99
Princess Principal £39.99
Sword Oratoria: Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon: On the Side £39.99
Tenchi Muyo OVAs £24.99
The Eccentric Family £24.99

While they are good prices for collector's editions, they're not blind buy cheap (wait for the standard editions to go on sale for those) I'd be happy with any of them in my collection except Armed Girls Machiavellism, which was a little generic.

If you're not an anime fan, and want to try something that needs as little knowledge of the medium as possible but will deliver in terms of entertainment, then of those titles, I'd recommend Girls' Last Tour, a post apocalyptic end of the world feel good tale, and Princess Principal, a steampunk spy show set in an alternate Britain.

Apparently Sword Oratoria is close to selling out.

Anime Limited Day 1

The big one today is the Mystery Box, 5 Blu-ray Collector's Editions for £44.99, which is a good price, although you have to balance that with a lucky dip situation.

There's plenty of other stuff on sale as well.

As for what I'd recommend, Grimgar Ashes and Illusions £4.99 is a pretty decent lost in another world story, Your Name £4.99 is one of the best anime movies in recent years, a body-swap tale that Hollywood is remaking. Jin-Roh £8.99 is another great feature film, dark and moody and really smart, while more family friendly is Mirai £8.99. Another must own movie is A Silent Voice £ 4.99...

Aw heck, looks like the 12 Days are devoted to mystery boxes for the first couple of days and pre-orders for the rest. Everything else is on sale, and I don't have the time to go through them all.

MVM Day 2

Some recent and forthcoming titles back at pre-order price discounts.

After the Rain £23.99
Is It Wrong to Try To Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon II £47.99  and £20.99 DVD
Kamisama Kiss Seasons 1 & 2 £29.99 DVD
Moribito Guardian of the Spirit £29.99
Mysteria Friends £17.99
Real Girl £53.99
Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs £23.99
Z/X Code Reunion £23.99

Continuing my theme of shows to recommend to people who've no experience with anime... After the Rain turned out to be quite a nice relationship story which kicked off with a rather dodgy premise. But one I couldn't live without would be Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, a brilliant fantasy serial, of the kind we used to get on the BBC when I was a kid, but made for more mature and discerning audiences. Really smart, great animation, but quite suitable for broad audiences, also from the director of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. I've yet to review Yuuna, Real Girl, or Dungeon II, so dunno how they'll be...

As for Anime Limited's general sale, this post on Anime UK News forums has everything listed under five spoiler tabs, about three clicks of the scroll bar down on a PC browser.

Anime Limited Day 2

Today it's that old Manga Video classic, Cyber City Oedo 808 on Blu-ray pre-order. It's £24.99 with the CD Soundtrack and collector's booklet.  It's actually £24.49 at MVM, but there are vouchers around for Anime lImited that might knock between 10 and 15% off if you spend more than £50..

MVM Day 3

Today it's all SamCham and Berserk! You can get the Samurai Champloo and original Berserk series on DVD £9.99, on Blu-ray £14.99, and on Blu-ray Steelbook £24.99.

Both are among my favourite shows. Berserk is a dark fantasy show, which starts off as a fictional mediaeval history, all knights and battles, mercenaries and mayhem, but gradually adds in more magical elements until a stunning cliffhanger conclusion. It's the prologue for a much bigger story, but quite frankly it's the best bit of the whole thing.

Samurai Champloo comes from the director of Cowboy Bebop, and has a similar sensibility, albeit in the era of the Tokugawa Shogunate. It's a 26 episode road trip, as a couple of itinerant, and mutually antagonistic samurai are persuaded to escort a young waitress across the country. It plays like an anthology, going in strange directions, all with a crazy hip-hop soundtrack, and great action animation.

Anime Limited Day 3

Preorders up for Re:Zero Season 1 Blu-ray £34.99 and DVD £29.99

Released as two parts previously. The DVD's just a bundle, while the Blu-ray gets new packaging. It's a lost in a fantasy world show, with the main character waking up in a world where life is like a fantasy RPG videogame. He's got an infinite lives hack, resetting to a 'save point' each time he dies. It's a well made show, but not one of my favourites.

MVM Day 4

Asura Cryin' Blu-ray £14.99
The Heroic Legend of Arslan: Dust Storm Dance Blu-ray £9.99
Made in Abyss Blu-ray £14.99

Battle Girls: Time Paradox DVD £5.99
GOD EATER Part 1 DVD £7.99
GOD EATER Part 2 DVD £7.99
Hakuoki: A Memory of Snow Flowers DVD £7.99
Hakuoki: Dawn of the Shinsengumi DVD £7.99
Hakuoki: Record of the Jade Blood DVD £9.99
Majikoi: Oh! Samurai Girls DVD £9.99
Nobunaga the Fool DVD £7.99

Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East Season 1 Blu-ray £7.99 DVD £4.99
Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East Season 2 Blu-ray £7.99 DVD £4.99
Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle Blu-ray £9.99 DVD £7.99

There are some passable shows today, at pretty decent prices. A couple I might even choose to watch (Arslan's good if you've seen the first series), but really it's a sea of mediocrity. But there is a gem in that vast ocean, one title that anyone should find the time to watch, and again, I'd happily recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen anime before. That is Made in Abyss. It's a fantasy tale about a couple of girls that go exploring in the eponymous Abyss. Really well done, tremendously imaginative and it goes to some unexpected emotional places. I described it as Ghibli for adults and gave it a 10/10.

Anime Limited Day 4

Today's preorder discounts are The Evangelion Soundtrack on Vinyl £29.99

and the Summer Days with Coo movie £19.99 for the BD/DVD Collector's Edition.
To be honest, all I know about the film is that the only place you could get it in the West prior to this was in a French language release. Turns out it got a US release last year...

MVM Day 5

is Pre-release day. Forthcoming titles at 50% off, thereafter going to 40% off.

The Demon Girl Next Door BD £19.99
Initial D: Legends Collection DVD £14.99
Captain Earth Collection BD £24.99

I haven't seen The Demon Girl Next Door to comment, and while Initial D: Legends Collection might smarten things up for a theatrical presentation with its 3 feature films (odd that there's no Blu-ray; the original single disc releases had HD options), it loses the depth of the manga and the old TV series. Captain Earth is a fair to middling Eureka 7 wannabe, watchable enough, making its UK BD debut. Previously released here on DVD.

Anime Limited Day 5

Planetes Blu-ray Collector's Edition £34.99

I'm just letting you know now that there will be one less available for Pre-order as I've already put some money down for a copy. It means waiting till the end of February, but to be honest, this is the one title I've been most looking forward to this sale. If you've read my review of the DVD, you'll know this is a classic sci-fi series with an eye on realism. Set in a future where mankind is expanding into the solar system, this show follows the members of the Debris Section, those astronauts whose job it is to clean up low Earth orbit. It is one of my favourite shows, and I can't wait to see how good it will look on Blu-ray.
