Should have listened to you oh wise one RJS.

just got back from holiday in Lake District with my parents, kids, and the missus. Drove up last Friday, on Monday we went to a Beatrix Potter show and exhibition (the show is well worth it for little ones, and a few laughs for adults). Anyway, while going round the exhibition, while taking photos I filled up the memory card in my camera, not to worry, I have a spare in my case.

put spare in case, camera wouldn't turn on
strange, I was sure it was memory card full, not battery message, so put spare battery in, still wouldn't turn on
took out memory card, camera turned on, put in full card, camera turned on, put in the spare, camera wouldn't turn on :(

So I took some photos with phone, as didn't want to spend too much time fiddling with it, but luckily, my mum had a spare 32gb card with her, which quite possibly is one bought from this deal, that I gave her for her birthday :)

tried the duff card in her camera, and it said please insert card, when got back to where we were staying, put card in missus' laptop and it didn't recognize anything being inserted, neither does this laptop :(

it's a SanDisk Extreme 16gb, which I think I found in bargain bin in Tesco, so hopefully if I contact Sandisk they'll send me a new one.

So, good job I had my dear old mum with me so I didn't have to pay exorbitant price they no doubt charged in the place, or on the high street.

I guess it's  like taking backups, it's only when it's too late and only when you wish you had a  more up to date backup, you realise the importance, and don't make the mistake again.

So, just tested an unopened Integral 32gb card in the laptop, and that detected it, so that's a good start, now to run the test you suggested :)

and check out hukd for sdhc card deals again, hopefully a good deal on 2 32gb cards :)

memory cards arrived today, first is being tested 20mins to do a 32gb card, I've spent a lot longer than that watching hdd checks in the past :(

filled out a form on sandisk's site the other day, got an RMA with a prepaid UPS label, so the faulty memory card has been dropped off at a local convenience store to go the Czech Republic!

I sent off an "Extreme" and during the week, an Extreme Pro arrived, in full retail packaging, same size, but more importantly it's tested ok by me :)
