Excellent. Thought it was very funny. Awaiting Matt Berry to return in Toast Of London and Year Of The Rabbit.

RE: Coping with the lockdown

Hating it. I thrive on social interaction. Due to the nature of the job I've not seen my son for three weeks and partner or any friends for two. Work is both a highlight and depressing. Good to see the other two guys but depressing that we are going to spend a good part of 10 hours in full PPE and it is running out! The virus has hardly hit in reality and yet the virus keeps getting downgraded by Public Health England. Call me cynical but that means lesser levels of PPE protection are then needed. Our Ambulance crews are crying out for eye protection. Even plastic safety goggles. A lot of the face masks that are left have none. How ridiculous is that? There must be huge amounts of plastic goggles in factories never mind wholesalers. I don't understand why they aren't been requested. Talked to one crew who had gone out and bought their own. We've full air blown hoods to Deep Clean in but who knows how long it will be before we run short on filters?  Wish i'd chosen my second career choice of Solo Round The World Sailor.

RE: [VIDEO] Coronavirus, anyone starting to get worried?

All those still wandering around at the seaside and filling shopping centres and supermarkets like it is just another day are those that are going to contribute to the big spike in around a fortnights time. Not to mention all those that had flu at Christmas but are convinced they had this in November and December. Telling people online how ill they were and all the symptoms were similar and how some of their elderly relatives nearly died. The same people that were also telling everyone not to panic four weeks ago and by three weeks this had changed to more people die of flu. Oh the irony.
So not looking forward to going back in amongst it tomorrow and wearing my full PPE for near on 10 hours. The sooner people grasp how serious it is the sooner I can get back to more normal PPE. Oh i'm so selfish......

Sad. It is going to get mad for our lot in the next few weeks.

RE: [VIDEO] Coronavirus, anyone starting to get worried?

We had Infection Control meeting last night at work where we were asked about any things we could think of that isn't being addressed. One point we brought up specific to the Ambulance Service was vehicle keys. Obviously used by many staff and do any of them bother to clean them before use or clean the keyboard on the key safe. We do.
What we did bring up, and I don't know why the media have ignored this, hard surfaces stay contaminated longer so keep your mobile phone clean. It's a germ magnet!
The other is cash. Notes and coins are known germ magnets. If you've handled cash clean your hands and better still wipe the cash. Better still try to go cashless!

RE: [VIDEO] Coronavirus, anyone starting to get worried?

We are getting more and more calls at the Ambulance Service. Two cleans on vehicles last night for suspected Covid. Unfortunately it is just on the verge of spirally quickly.

RE: Genesis Tour Tickets

Unfortunately this excessive pricing and VIP packaging seems to be the norm now. Quite a few bands I fancied seeing till I saw the prices. Plus i'm bored of seeing tiny specs miles away now too. Seen Genesis several times and I'll keep those memories as I think this show will be rather sad and lacking. Seen Steve Hackett on all of his tour the last few years and he does the stuff he was on properly with a top class band. Also got my ticket for later in the year. There are plenty of Genesis tribute acts who do a decent job too and the ticket price leaves you with plenty of change!

RE: [VIDEO] Coronavirus, anyone starting to get worried?

Wish i could work from home. The Ambulance Service aren't that keen on people being off either and it may prove to be difficult to keep vehicles germ free from afar?

RE: [VIDEO] Coronavirus, anyone starting to get worried?

The hardest thing is making people aware that they need to keep hands clean and don't touch your face with unwashed hands. Stop "snotting" everywhere when you sneeze too.
Sounds stupid but the hardest part will be convincing those that think it is only a sniffle to actually take it seriously and their actions, or should that be inaction, could contribute to it spreading further and putting their elderly or very young family and friends at risk. Hopefully it will disappear as quickly as SARS did.

RE: [VIDEO] Coronavirus, anyone starting to get worried?

Unfortunately my job is infection control in the NHS and I've already dealt with vehicles that have carried confirmed and suspected cases, and it is far more serious than people believe. They have been splurging money on PPE for frontline staff which as you know isn't flush with excess cash. This version is nearer SARS or MERS and yes it does hit those with underlying health issues more easily but the result of the virus is spread across all including the those fit and healthy who aren't by any means less likely to get it just as bad. The thing that appears to be killing even the healthy is the pneumonia that is developing afterwards and the only chance of clearing that in a lot of cases is antibiotics administered intravenously to stop bacteria taking over and ventilation.
It is certainly not on a level with seasonal or swine flu.

RE: Singapore Grand Prix

It isn't banned until next season and to be honest next season is when the car regulations take a massive change from new low profile tyres with larger wheels to standardised parts aimed to make mechanical rather than aero grip more important. Bigger brake discs and bigger chassis so taller drivers aren't penalised and simplified suspension systems. There are many more changes too.
I think it will be interesting to see if this mod give Mercedes a boost as it will obviously add weight but ultimately will anyone copy it?

I can't decide if she is off her trolley or if this is genius or crap. Unfortunately watching her other videos hasn't helped either.
This is just bizarre, changes style and sound so many times. Stick with it though. Love the ending section.

RE: [VIDEO] Neil Peart RIP

Absolutely gutted when I heard the news last night in the pub. Came home and played Moving Pictures very very loud.
Luckily got to see the last two tours they did over here.
Today i'm in more reflective mood an d watching this again put a smile back on my face. It shows three nerdy guys who are genuine friends gradually getting drunk and having a laugh too.
RIP Neil.

RE: [VIDEO] Topgun: Maverick

The WW2 P51 Mustang in the film could well be Cruise's own aircraft? He's a qualified pilot and bought the plane then called "Kiss Me Kate" quite a few years back for around 4 Million Dollars.

RE: Cream

Got this on DVD.
Great drummer but very opinionated and was quite a horrible man by all counts. When he attacks the interviewer and cracks him one across the nose is quite shocking considering they'd done various interviews already.

RE: Bloody banks

Oh for the joy of the days when on payday you got cash. You paid bills in shops including all your utilities.
Now it is just about impossible to function without having a bank account. Your only other option being a Post Office account. As Bandicoot said it is all about control and any excuse to extract more cash out of you at some point when they all start charging for even the most basic services.

If you like Rush you may well like the first album from YYNOT. They started as a Rush cover band and their album has loads of nods to that influence.

RE: HMV Classic DVD series.

https://store.hmv.com/film-tv/hollywood-classics-2-for-10-dvd
I do a lot of shopping in our local HMV. Stocks some pretty obscure stuff at decent prices. Also have some good offers. It is nothing like it used to be. The CD's by the bands I like tended to be £15 or more in the old HMV so I stopped going. Since the reopening it has become a lot more across the board. Stocks new releases from some pretty small acts at the same prices as Amazon.

HMV Classic DVD series.

HMV are doing a few classic British and Hollywood films on DVD at £5.99.
Has anyone bought any?
I'm tempted but can't find any reviews of what the transfers are like. There's no extras on each I know that much.

RE: Cheaper to drive to Bristol than to go by train?

Top Gear did this quite a few years ago and the three of them saved a fortune on the fare.
My main problem with Train Fares is the fact that public transport is supposed to be there for the public to use. It is alright saying you can book a cheap ticket two months in advance but that isn't the point. You may want to go somewhere last minute and shouldn't have to donate a kidney to afford it. Bus services don't do it and trains should be no different.

RE: New clean air act on the cards

Very quiet about shipping. Even more so in places like London where there are numerous boats running engines or diesel powered generators which are all burning the lowest grade fuel.
This is from the Transport and Environment site which is a anti pollution lobby that is pressing for all these changes to the inner city. Don't hear them mentioning this paragraph in any articles!

"Why is it important to pay more attention to ship emissions?Air pollution from ships continues to increase as the sector grows. Land-based emissions – SOx and NOx – on the other hand, particularly from fixed installations, have been reduced dramatically at great cost. NOx from shipping is set to exceed NOx from all EU land-based sources in the coming decade."

RE: Vehicle emissions

Very interesting also bearing in mind most modern cars have been getting heavier and heavier with all the deluxe add ons they fit now. I do find it funny that the congestion charge is directed at the pesky dirty motorist yet the Thames runs right through the centre and the dirtiest diesel engines are the boats on there.

If this company police the place on a regular basis then they must see your car in that spot on a regular basis. Seems like somebody is being a bit officious with the rules?

Loving this album. Hints of Zappa, The Police, Talking Heads and King Crimson. A lot of very tongue in cheek lyrics.

The new Steven Wilson album is a bit special.
This track is heartbreaking when you listen to the lyrics but Ninet's vocals, especially on the crescendo are stunning.
