RE: Cream

Got this on DVD.
Great drummer but very opinionated and was quite a horrible man by all counts. When he attacks the interviewer and cracks him one across the nose is quite shocking considering they'd done various interviews already.

RE: Bloody banks

Oh for the joy of the days when on payday you got cash. You paid bills in shops including all your utilities.
Now it is just about impossible to function without having a bank account. Your only other option being a Post Office account. As Bandicoot said it is all about control and any excuse to extract more cash out of you at some point when they all start charging for even the most basic services.

If you like Rush you may well like the first album from YYNOT. They started as a Rush cover band and their album has loads of nods to that influence.

Cheers. I suspected as much.

RE: HMV Classic DVD series.

I do a lot of shopping in our local HMV. Stocks some pretty obscure stuff at decent prices. Also have some good offers. It is nothing like it used to be. The CD's by the bands I like tended to be £15 or more in the old HMV so I stopped going. Since the reopening it has become a lot more across the board. Stocks new releases from some pretty small acts at the same prices as Amazon.

HMV Classic DVD series.

HMV are doing a few classic British and Hollywood films on DVD at £5.99.
Has anyone bought any?
I'm tempted but can't find any reviews of what the transfers are like. There's no extras on each I know that much.

RE: Cheaper to drive to Bristol than to go by train?

Top Gear did this quite a few years ago and the three of them saved a fortune on the fare.
My main problem with Train Fares is the fact that public transport is supposed to be there for the public to use. It is alright saying you can book a cheap ticket two months in advance but that isn't the point. You may want to go somewhere last minute and shouldn't have to donate a kidney to afford it. Bus services don't do it and trains should be no different.

RE: New clean air act on the cards

Very quiet about shipping. Even more so in places like London where there are numerous boats running engines or diesel powered generators which are all burning the lowest grade fuel.
This is from the Transport and Environment site which is a anti pollution lobby that is pressing for all these changes to the inner city. Don't hear them mentioning this paragraph in any articles!

"Why is it important to pay more attention to ship emissions?Air pollution from ships continues to increase as the sector grows. Land-based emissions – SOx and NOx – on the other hand, particularly from fixed installations, have been reduced dramatically at great cost. NOx from shipping is set to exceed NOx from all EU land-based sources in the coming decade."

RE: Vehicle emissions

Very interesting also bearing in mind most modern cars have been getting heavier and heavier with all the deluxe add ons they fit now. I do find it funny that the congestion charge is directed at the pesky dirty motorist yet the Thames runs right through the centre and the dirtiest diesel engines are the boats on there.

RE: I know you all love a good parking ticket episode...

If this company police the place on a regular basis then they must see your car in that spot on a regular basis. Seems like somebody is being a bit officious with the rules?

RE: [VIDEO] What are you listening to now??? (Music recomendations)

Loving this album. Hints of Zappa, The Police, Talking Heads and King Crimson. A lot of very tongue in cheek lyrics.

That is certainly a track which has split his fans.

RE: [VIDEO] What are you listening to now??? (Music recomendations)

The new Steven Wilson album is a bit special.
This track is heartbreaking when you listen to the lyrics but Ninet's vocals, especially on the crescendo are stunning.

[VIDEO] RE:What gig did you just go to?

Saw the Marillion Weekend at Leicester De Montford Hall. They did a similar thing with finger lights. The band knew nothing about it but everyone was ready to set them off at a specific lyric in the track Go. Absolutely stunning weekend. Then saw Maiden and Jeff Lynne's ELO a few weeks later.

RE: [VIDEO] One b'stard of a year

An then there was one. (Wrong band I suppose with the tenuous Genesis link?)
I know he hadn't been well for a while but that still comes as a shock. My favourite Christmas song too.
RIP Greg.

RE: GTX 750ti and GTX 960 for sale

Hi Bryan

It's here. Going to put it in shortly. Only bit I'm not looking forward to is getting my three monitors running off again. It's going to go one of two ways isn't it? Lol
Either be a doddle or.......
We won't go there.
It will be a doddle.

Cheers again

RE: GTX 750ti and GTX 960 for sale

Just out of interest my current card has two six pin power inputs. It's an ATI.
The GTX has an 8 pin power input. Does it come with an adaptor lead, two six pins into one 8 pin, or shall I get one off Ebay. They are only a couple of quid?

RE: GTX 750ti and GTX 960 for sale

Hi. It has come through thanks. Sent money via Paypal payment as my Barclays Online account now insists I have a pin sentry gadget to send anyone money. So it was a fail on that option.
As a bonus they are going to send me one. Silver linings and all that!

Hi Bryan
Did you sell the GTX960?
Could be interested.

RE: [VIDEO] TV Remake, reboots

UFO for me.
Got the remastered DVD set. Would love to see an updated version of it.

RE: [VIDEO] What are you listening to now??? (Music recomendations)

Frost* Falling Satellites.
Great new album and nice to hear "Progressive Rock" that is progressive and not just rehashing all the 70's stuff.

RE: The Musketeers

It's the final series though. They definitely aren't doing any more.

RE: Laptop recommendations please...

Just looking for one for my son as his is creaking now. He uses it for music and needs something that can handle lots of plugins running at the same time. The main program he uses is Fruity Loops and the recommendation for it was get a Quad core with hyperththreading as priority, then RAM but storage wasn't such an issue as I was looking at SSD drives. Apparently the write is not really an issue even to old 5400rpm drives.
Anyway found a nice Dell Inspiron 17 5000. 17 inch touchscreen, Current i7 processor, 16 gig ram, 2TB drive and AMD graphics card in it for £779.
It's a fair wack to pay but seems a good speck and ticks all the boxes. They do the same machine, without touchscreen and lower spec for around £500.
