Do you get any free DVDs for this price though (at Comet)?

RE: DELL Slim Systems - Adding cards.

Thanks for that MilesR. Yes - it is the 56K modem I want. I actually bid on the Ebay item you mentioned before I posted - but it went for over £14.

However, now I have found they are called `low profile` cards I found this on Ebay

cgi.ebay.co.uk/SMARTLINK-56K-V90-V92-LOW-PROFILE-PCI-MODEM-5618PSV-XP_W0QQitemZ280172808550QQihZ018QQcategoryZ3693QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

which looks like it will do the job fine - assuming Vista will run it!

DELL Slim Systems - Adding cards.

I bought a slimline DELL Inspiron 530S for a neighbour but forgot he needed a modem. I didn`t realise how the slimline versions were built and the modem out of his old PC won`t fit the new Inspiron - the card itself looks like it will fit but the fixing bar is too long (as wide as the PC!).

Could I just cut some of the fixing bar off so it will fit in his new PC or is it not as simple as this?

I can`t even find anywhere that sells modem cards that will fit... so the only other alternative seems to be an external modem - and they are not cheap*

RE: Roberts RD1 Radio £299.99 @ Amazon, £65 at Co Op

If this is the same radio (which I think it is) then I think you may be better off with the Bug

www.pocket-lint.co.uk/reviews/viewreaderreviews.phtml/672

According to one review I read it could only record one program.... maybe the latest software in the most recent review has sorted things though.

RE: Pure

Don`t you need a wireless network for replay radio? Or is it just using your PC as a radio and downloading broadcasts on your PC. Anyway I switch my PC off when I am not using it - the idea of leaving it on all night so I can listen to it when I go to bed is not that energy efficient for me. The idea of the Bug (IMO) is primarily as an alarm clock/bedside radio. I am not quite sure how my PC could replicate what the Bug does.

RE: Pure "The Bug Too" DAB refurb £34.99 plus p&p only 4 left Also Pure "ONE" for £25

Next day delivery (as with standard delivery) depends on the weight of the order. For a single Bug Super Saver is £3.99 + vat whereas next day delivery is £8.99 + vat. However, as you mention - if you spend over £50 (e.g. 2 DAB radios - Bug or Pure One and a filler item) the Super Saver delivery option is free....but the next day delivery is still chargeable.

RE: Pure "The Bug Too" DAB refurb £34.99 plus p&p only 4 left Also Pure "ONE" for £25

I didn`t think I would get mine (at 20p) when I ordered .... but if you don`t buy a ticket you can`t win the lottery. It is a great buy at £24.99. I paid £75 for the one I have been using for over a year and it was supposedly half price at the time.... and was very pleased with it at that price.

Having had another look on the net I think the only difference after software upgrade (apart from colour) between the Bug Too and the original Bug is that the Autotune button on the original is now the `On/Off` button on the Bug Too. This may actually be a significant difference for some people as the `On/Off` on the original Bug is the centre control button which can be fiddly (as this button also controls the volume - so you can end up shooting the volume up if you don`t hit it dead centre when you meant to switch if off).

RE: Pure "The Bug Too" DAB refurb £34.99 plus p&p only 4 left Also Pure "ONE" for £25

Have they emailed you to say the 20p ones have been cancelled? Mine have just arrived. No evidence of them being refurbished at all - still have the seals over the control button and have those moisture absorbing sachets in them. Look brand new to me. Superb. Hope you get yours.

RE: Pure "The Bug Too" DAB refurb £34.99 plus p&p only 4 left Also Pure "ONE" for £25

I doubt you will find anything less than £24.99 offering DAB recording. You`d be hard pushed to find a DAB radio for less than that never mind with DAB recording.... especially with the ability to pick up a decent number of station and have decent speakers.

RE: Pure "The Bug Too" DAB refurb £34.99 plus p&p only 4 left Also Pure "ONE" for £25

I wonder if the graphite ones that have now appeared are cancelled orders of the 20p ones they had on Friday or just a new batch? Still a really good buy at £24.99 though... but fingers crossed my 20p ones should be arriving today.

RE: THE BUG DAB Radio (Graphite), Grade B £0.20 inc VAT

I ordered a few for family just after 5pm.... they have been despatched (I have been given City Link tracking number)!! There were about 74 when I ordered. Paid extra for next day delivery as I thought they may get packed before they realised the price was a bit crazy. I thought they must have been flagged up on a site like this as when I got back there were none left. Good luck to the rest of you that ordered.

PS. I have ordered a few things from EBuyer without a problem. If only one of my 20p Bugs works it will still be a bargain. I have had a Bug for over a year and love it.... these can be updated with the latest software so they are effectively the same as the Bug Too. I actually think this old graphite one looks more solid/classy than the newer Bug Too.

RE: DVD full of comedy for just £2!

Well I missed it... though I only tend to watch things I have recorded on my DVD recorder so tend to miss any advertising.

However, I bought it after seeing it on MSE forums where the post seems to have been very well received by other people who missed the `offer` (though I think the OP was genuine and in any case true spam is deleted promptly there).

RE: DVD full of comedy for just £2!

Mmm. Anti-spammers... do you think that this actually could be a good value comedy DVD?? I realise that the OP has only posted for the first time on here so it looks a bit dodgy but on MSE the OP actually has the DVD and is very genuine.

Their comments on the DVD are

"Its got Peter Kay`s Ammerillo video (which would do me on its own to be honest!) Ali G "interviewing" Posh and Becks, a Vicar of Dibley special with Johhny Depp in it, a very very funny Ricky Gervais special, two Little Britain sketches featuring Robbie Williams and George Micheal, A Catherine Tate special, a Men Behaving Badly special with Kylie in it, Dawn French snogging Hugh Grant (which was apparently 7 years ago - how old does that make you feel!) and stuff from Harry Hill and Russel Brand to boot."

I am not normally a Red Nose Day person but willing to give £1.99 for the DVD. This could be the first time I have knowingly been taken in by those clever spammers!

RE: Play.com £5 off codes....

Don`t know if we are allowed to post them here... but check out HotDealsUK or MoneySavingExpert vouchers section for the codes. I think you will be lucky to get a £5 voucher now though as it was only the first 8000 that got £5 ones. After that it`s £1

RE: Live steaming football.. a bit urgent..

Okay - so it seems that both DigiAlb and ART have all Premiership matches. It now seems to come down to picture/sound quality and (maybe - low importance) what else I can get on the satellite I am pointing at (as I will have a fixed satellite).

I have just found this post of someone who has actually seen both broadcasts though it is a year old :

"ART: They show many games, especialy from England, but they are not always reliable with their schedule. English league coverage is excellent, but French and German leagues is not good enough. They also have many Asian and African games, for those who like it. The commentators are annoying, they talk non-stop and you can`t hear the fans. No doubt that for its price is a good deal, mainly if Al Jazeera will join it like can happen.

DIGITALB: I watched there 2 English games in Saturday and there were no problems. For English, German and French leagues, this is the perfect package, showing 2-3 games in the same time in different channels. Too bad they don`t show replays anymore, only Milan channel all the time. Quality of broadcast is very good, you can "feel" the atmosphere and commentators are not annoying."

I have read various comments about ART picture quality being adequate but not up to Sky quality. Paull - what is your verdict on the quality of the DigiAlb broadcast? I presume it is very good if you are watching movies on it!

RE: Live steaming football.. a bit urgent..

Paull. Do you know how I can see what is on DigiAlb for the first 3 weeks of the season (e.g. a website link)? I am not too bothered about Manu friendlies... just Blackburn matches.

elephant stone. That is the solution I am looking at (but with either ART or DigiAlb). The cheapest non-Ebay store I have found for the 12 month ART card is £125 delivered :

www.mantesat.com/product_detail2.asp?ID=948&CatID=143

Though it says allow 6 working days for delivery which is a bit steep for popping a card in an envelope.

RE: Live steaming football.. a bit urgent..

I am just about to buy a Technomate 1500, 80cm fixed dish etc. I am hoping it will be easy to fit myself (is it?).

I wondered since this post if there was any development/experience on the DigiAlb versus ART front from anyone? I know Paull says that DigiAlb shows all the Premiership matches - If you are still reading this forum Paull did you mean all the ones that Sky shows or EVERY match? I only want to really watch my own teams` matches (who are not one of the big draws by the way) and have seen that ART should be showing the first 3 matches (and possibly all seasons). I can see how this can be done as supposedly they will have 6 channels this year and with the late kickoffs and Sunday matches they should be able to cover all matches. So do DigiAlb show them all? Has anyone experienced both for comparison of picture and commentary?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Fusion FVRT200 Freeview Set Top Box 80GB HDD Twin tuner £94.50 incl VAT

£150 for a Topfield???? Where did you get one at that price? I thought the normal price of one of those was nearer £280.

RE: Fusion FVRT200 Freeview Set Top Box 80GB HDD Twin tuner £94.50 incl VAT

MarkSparks... I don`t think the `PLSE WAIT` is a problem with EBuyer. I had this problem too when I bought one from Currys. The problem is (I think) with the power supply unit. If you are keen on keeping the PVR then I suggest you ring up Fusion and they may sent you a new PSU out. Otherwise return to EBuyer for a refund.

RE: Star Wars Trilogy - only £16.99!

Maybe misinforming you but I think last week in HMV stores it was about £19.99 and the 3 disc version £16.99... could have changed this week though.

RE: Free Condom Pack

It`s a wonder you have the energy to go to work...though at least you should be a going with a smile on your face!

RE: Free Condom Pack

Anyone can get free condoms... benefits of the NHS system - just go to family planning clinic!

Netgear DG834GT compatible wireless PCMCIA

I have a Netgear DG834GT router which works fine with my laptop which has a Netgear WG111T USB dongle for wireless connectivity.... but only at 54Mbps as my laptop is old is USB 1.1.

Scan on their Today Only page have a Kcorp KLG-520 GOLD 108g+ SuperG Wireless Notebook (PCMCIA) Adapter for £5.86 instead of £14.06. I live quite close to Scan so don`t have to worry about their hugh postage charges.

www.scan.co.uk/products/productinfo.asp?WebProductID=405630

Does anyone know if this should work with the Netgear router? If so - it would be neater than the dongle and possibly faster too. If so I was wondering how it would connect e.g. would I need extra sofware. I guess it could be worth a play at £6..but thought I would check first for any info. Thanks.

Looks like I have answered my own question...found this link which has software for it...

www.kcorplifestyle.com/products/goldSeries/KLG-520/KLG-520.htm#download

Any advice welcome though

Sorry about your problems getting one. The 2 I ordered (one for a friend) arrived this morning. Not as good quality as the Pure Evokes - but then again for £30 it is pretty good!

RE: Buy 512mb of memory from Crucial, get a flash drive free !!

Mark/HD. I was taking Crucial at their word - that the kit was `better` than buying 2 individuals. Because of this post I have done what you have done and put in 2 separate orders which I wouldn`t have thought of doing... so thanks. However, they encouraged me to do it by changing the prices to make it much cheaper to order 2 individual 512Mb than the 1GB kit not taking into consideration the USB drives.

However, on my second order the option to add a free USB drive did not appear and I had to clear my cookies to get to appear again....even though the T&C`s say one free USB drive per order. Cheers.

EDIT : Got an extra 4% off by using a voucher code available on HotUKDeals website.

RE: Buy 512mb of memory from Crucial, get a flash drive free !!

Thanks for the info... I just looked to check if they were still dearer and they have put the price up of the 1GB (2x512Mb) kit to £93.99 wherewas the individual 512Mb is £37.59.

I am sure earlier today the same kit was around £71.
