RE: Battery question for Rob

Unless there is a microcontroller in the tool, it's probably all analogue components, it'll probably be fine with the higher voltage. Just see how warm it gets in use!

RE: Apple

Apple does make nice products and it does have pretty good after sales support, which it can afford to do because of the price of the products. It's not perfect, and sometimes it has to be publicly shamed into recalls and cheap fixes...

...but at least it can be!

I also have a Windows laptop that's older than 2014, which is still going even though I don't use it hardly ever any more. It's very cheap to replace the battery on. But it's not remotely as nice as my Macbook Pro!

RE: Home page.

The problem with the BBC doing the things that article says they should be doing, is it's supposed to be the public broadcaster, and millions of people voted to leave. If it aggressively spent time on these dodgy things, it would lose the support of millions of people who would still vote for Brexit today.

So that would be a huge part of the population that would stop listening to BBC News and reading the BBC website. And that's before the government threatening it's license fee revenue.

It's damned either way.

RE: Battery question for Rob

Shouldn't affect the tool at all, as long as the battery is the same voltage and is designed to safely deliver the same current requirements (if it isn't it'll get hot, and at the extreme it could catch fire), it should be fine.

Charging is a different matter, you shoudn't charge Lithium Ion batteries with a Nicad charging circuit.

As long as your new battery has it's own charger, and the voltage is the same as your old battery, all the danger of damage is on the battery side, not the power tool side.

Hope that helps!

RE: [VIDEO] Facebook's new track-you-anywhere privacy policy

I do think it's worth noting the difference between Google and Apple's business models. Both want you to be part of their eco system, that's for sure, Apple want you to buy only Apple products.

But it's in Apple's interests to protect your privacy, because they aren't in the advertising game and they don't make money from your data. Google on the other hand, that's their primary business model, targetting you with ads. And Microsoft has been going the same route with Windows 10.

So if Apple are tracking you, it's to improve the service you get from them, if Google do it, it's a way to get data on you that is useful to them.

I would dispute him being a clever man, he is definitely a very lucky man, born into money, but he's no Richard Branson when it comes to business. He has too much failure to be smart.

He is basically a classic white privilege male bully who has all the traits to make him successful, he's not clever. If he wasn't born with all that money he'd be a nobody, and he'd certainly not have a beautiful woman on his arm.

Same. :( It's odd too, Dilbert is a satire of corporate culture, surely Trump is corporate culture to it's extreme?

I've been watching them all in order, so I've seen Iron Fist (and the group one), so I think it's the second season of Jessica Jones then the second Luke Cage?

Hi Kate,

I don't think the money is the issue, we just don't have a copy it seems. :/

Also, what is your interest in the release?

RE: [VIDEO] Official England aren't knocked out yet thread

Yes, never going to beat France because they can score from open play, but a good run and everyone on that team gave their all.

We might have got further with someone like Wilshere in the midfield who could actually make through balls, and Sterling not taking up a spot, and maybe a manager that understood attacking football and was a bit more ruthless about replacing Sterling after the second game...

...but whether that would mean beating France...

Still way better than anybody expected and this team played its heart out in the same way the previous era's group of players didn't.

RE: [VIDEO] Brexit

David Davis, Brexit Bulldog was just a useless negotiator. Theresa May's plans to let Davis and Johnson take all the blame for a total shambles of a deal have finally collapsed because she forgot that all Boris really cares about is getting her job.

And now he's having another attempt at triggering a leadership bid so he can try for her job, because he knows he stands a much better chance of getting it without a public vote.

I'd love for this whole thing to work out and be wonderful for the UK, but so far it's the complete shambles I thought it would be. :(

RE: Protecting DVDs in storage (garage)

Extreme temperatures won't be good for their long term storage, they should be fine with damp (but the covers not so good!).
If your garage is going to swing below 3C or above 20C it's probably not the best for their long term health, unfortunately.

That said I have a load in the loft, they seem ok!

[VIDEO] RE: Facebook's new track-you-anywhere privacy policy

I do admire the people who do jobs like this, also those who work at the police special units that have to see things you can't un-see (google's safe search is the best thing ever!).

Facebook don't come off well in this video though, they sound very corporate and non-caring, not that this shocks me. :/
