RE: 50th anniversay of moon landing

Bandi, this is a really good theory, despite absolutely no evidence I'm going to do so, will you provide me with some money towards my scientific expedition to the moon to find out if these are true?

RE: [VIDEO] Watchmen HBO series

Ah I see, that makes sense that they don't want people googling his thoughts.

He's retiring from comic writing too it seems:

Moore is no fan of the HBO show. On planet comics, this goes without saying. Moore, who has lived in the middle-England town of Northampton his whole life, is legendary for his opposition to large entertainment companies.

I don't think he believes it, but I also don't think he remotely cares. For his die hard faithful, if he says its not true they believe it, and as far as he is concerned that is all that matters.

The only thing he cares about is himself, and boy does he love himself.

I've still not seen the original, I have it on DVD though, I should really watch it! Should I watch it? Or should I watch Mallrats first?

RE: The Trump Presidency

Looks like his white hood is off. Nobody can pretend now that they don't know what they are voting for, so it will be interesting to see what America votes for.

Hopefully the Democrats can find a candidate who is likeable, but we seem to always get the opposition we deserve. :/

[VIDEO] RE:Square clouds - geoengineering or not?

10 seconds googling shows the bottom right two in the collage are not clouds at all:
https://www.metabunk.org/explained-flying-carpet-rhombus-shaped-cloud-in-exeter.t4122/

Another 30 seconds and the rest are nothing amazing at all, just a snapshot in time taken out of context:
https://www.metabunk.org/square-cornered-clouds.t8218/

Just like when you look and see a cloud that looks like something you recognise for a short amount of time.

Also, not even the strangest of clouds:

RE: England Cricket World Cup winners 2019!!!

Not being into cricket, I caught something about some miscounted run, is there any truth to that? Or is it like various footie rules and sometimes open to debate?

"but the worrying trend here is that it's video, which was usually the last bastion of truth"

I would also add it's done with AI, it doesn't require a highly skilled artist who understands light and Photoshop. It just needs someone with some computer skills, a load of source images and a point to make.

For a while there will be AI working out fakes from truths, but eventually, because of the nature of AI, there will be a point when you cannot tell.

RE: [VIDEO] What gig did you just go to?

Last night went to Audlen End House for a Heritage Live concert, if you've not done these and like the idea of a festival but don't normally like huge tightly packed crowds, you might like this! Sound was great!

Belinda Carlisle was great with a strong backing band.

ABC were also good, but I just didn't know their stuff that wasn't a hit single, so most of their stuff I didn't know, fun though.

The Human League, reason I got the tickets, just brilliant. Awesome sound, even really enjoyed the few tracks they played from newer albums I didn't know. Must see!

mbilko says...
"so don't feel that criticising the jewish government is anti semitic"

I agree, and I think nearly all Jewish people in the Labour Party who have experienced anti-semitism do not support the Israeli government and the way it treats the Palestinians.

What is happening in the party though is something more, it's very much like how arguments about immigration give some people an excuse to go full racist. If people don't turn around and go, "hold on a moment, that's racist isn't it?" then things get dark and ugly.

Margaret Hodge has openly clashed with Corbyn about his inability to deal with this, she was born Jewish and seems to have been pretty consistent in her criticism of Israel.

"We can agree that Trump is a bit of an arse, but I'm sure we'll still disagree that spending a large number of waking moments moaning about it is a waste of time..."

I guess you can also say moaning about people moaning is also a waste of time. ;)

To moan about things you can't control, usually comes out of caring about them. As I said (or should have if I didn't) on the brexit thread, this is probably far more about a cathartic release of frustration than anything else.

I would far rather see people moaning about anything they feel is wrong, than be silent. Because when people are silent, worse things happen. Just look at the anti-semetism in the Labour Party atm, fuelled for too long by people being quiet or dismissing things as not worth worrying about.

RE: Women's World Cup

The best team won the tournament, though the Netherlands made it hard for them with some amazing goalkeeping.

The Euros in 2 years are in England, will be interesting to see the attendance! Be nice to go to a few games before the women's game becomes so big the ticket prices go through the roof.

It has made me think a little, at times, that it looked like Chris is that poor kid that really wants to hang around with the cool kids and lets them get away with bullying him because of it.

Aye, and even then I think it's also too early to judge anyway, it will take time for a lot of players to get out of some habits knowing they can no longer get away with them.

Also... someone, somewhere is training AI to give instant and accurate decisions.

That was a harsh offside. :/ Journey over, all that's left now is for the USA to win the cup and the team to tell Trump to stick his invitation to the White House.
