RE: PlayStation classic - Sony get in on the act

£4.50 a game, if you exclude the price of the console itself, which is a bit unfair maybe. :)

RE: The original 1991 Lemmings FREE on the Microsoft store

My favourite version was always the Amiga one, but that might be because that's what I played first and most. What's this version like?

"Yes, that is exactly my point. And why I think companies should refrain from taking a 'moral' stance."

In answer to your question, I like to think I would be disgusted with them, and stop buying their products. I wouldn't burn any existing products, or buy more products to burn, nor would I understand why anyone was doing that. It's stupid, I don't get the point of it.

"Because they're only in it for the money ultimately. If they really didn't care about the consequences, then I'd be fine with it, but we've seen a lot of companies make decisions based on faux outrage because they are afraid of being boycotted."

Yes, I agree, it's all about the money. And yes I also agree some companies have made bad decisions because of a handful of people were outraged and the media gave them a voice in search of an easy story.

On the flip side, some companies have also reversed bad decisions because a handful of people were outraged and the media gave them a voice.

And faux outrage is not a new thing at all, it's just before it came from newspapers, now people don't read them it comes from the internet. So I don't think much has changed beyond how quickly things blow up, which makes me suspect things won't change much in the future either.

"I'm talking about private companies taking a moral stance and making a profit from it. I'm not saying they are wrong in what they appear to believe, what I'm saying is would you still be ok with it if the stance they took was different to something you or I believe is right and moral?"

So is the question... how would I react if say a large company ran a campaign celebrating say Alex Jones?

"Here's a question that is based on post: what if the prevailing moral compass shifts further right and companies make advertising decisions based on the perceived public mood?

Would you still welcome it?"

I think this is what I have a problem with, and I would expect you yourself as someone right of centre would do too, the idea that if you believe black people should be treated the same as white people, you must be left wing?

Replace black with many other types of people, etc, as appropriate.

These issues for me are not political, they are moral, if you paint them as political then you are deciding that one side of that spectrum is where good lies, and the other where bad lies.

I obviously have my own personal moral views, many of which I'm sure we share, and some of those we will each care about more than the other. I'm always happy when a company takes a stance based on morals I agree with, I'm not happy merely because they took "a" moral stance, it has to be inline with my own!

And I don't think this is a political move, it's probably a marketing move, and also a clever business decision, but I don't see how it's political because it's not trying to bring about change or get elected, it's just capitalising on peoples existing feelings to promote products.

Maybe they've done the right thing for the wrong reasons, that's never really bothered me that much though.

"Not sure I'm happy with companies taking a political stance"

Is this a political stance or a moral one? Political is a word that is usually used to justify a difference of opinion and differentiate it from something that is morally wrong.

I'm against companies supporting political parties, but I'm all for companies having morals and coming out against hatred, brutality, etc.

Westworld Season 3

After the very dissappointing second season, I was wondering what would make me consider watcthing the third one whenever it arrived...

Aaron Paul has joined the cast of “Westworld” for the HBO’s third season, Variety has confirmed.

The exact nature of Paul’s role is being kept under wraps, but it is believed he will be a series regular on the show. Paul is also currently shooting the Apple drama “Are You Sleeping,” in which he will star opposite Octavia Spencer and Lizzy Kaplan.

Ok, now I might give it another go. :)

"if its 99p, incl postage from Taiwan, what do you expect?"

Exactly, it's that price for a reason. Quality electrical components hit bottom years ago, the only way they can get things out at prices like these is to use poor quality components, dangerous or poor designs, or all usually three!

Also... Big Clive! I used to watch a lot of his stuff. Don't plug in anything from cheap pound stores into the mains, this is what Big Clive taught me.

Viewing figures have been dropping for years, maybe they think targetting a different evening is worth it, perhaps ITV have something on at that time slot? Is X-Factor on then or something?
