This is a fine example how a rather weak movie gets an excellent presentation on DVD.
Like most of Mel Gibson`s drama movies (either directed by him or played in by him), this movie is long. Too long, actually. Almost 3 hours. Nothing can be said about the acting other than it is nothing out of the ordinary. The script does not help, either. It is totally predictable and very VERY American.
The video transfer is awesome. The movie includes some amazing scenaries, some really cool visual effects and very accurate costumes. Everything just looks great and there is not the slightest of compression signs.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is excellent. Actually, that`s an understatement. It`s very close to divine. While not always aggressive, it is simply perfect.
The menus are all animated with sound effects.
The extras include some extensive behind the scenes shots, a commentary by the director, 2 detailed explanations about visual effects and some deleted scenes. The extras are really top notch.
The bottom line is, however, that not even the wonderful extras can save this movie from being boring and unimaginative. Give it a try. It`s worth it only for the special effects and costumes. To fully enjoy the story, though, you simply gotta be an American.

Patriot was one of the best movies of year 2000 and very good Roland Emmerich movie, but I think that still Moon 44 is Roland`s best film. The story reminds me little about Mel`s older historic movie Braveheart, which was just released in Finland.I heard that the story didn`t match with the real Patriot`s life, but I don`t care, all I want that it`s entertaining.
Video transfer is almost perfect, but the audio is one of best I have ever heard.Menus were cool and features were interesting.
