Well, the movie`s theme is very familiar, and the movie itself is pretty nice, although the plot shows its age. Still, it was enjoyable.
The video transfer is very good. The restoration team did an excellent job and the movie looks very nice with crisp colors and no scratches at all. The animation, as you can expect, is pretty basic, but hey - there`s only THAT much that can be acheived by hand-drawing.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is rather flat. There`s some usage of the surrounds, but nothing to show-off your system with. The disc also contains dubbed soundtracks in Hebrew, Greek and Bulgarian, which is a good thing for kids.
The menus are beautifully animated with sound.
The extras include a 2 hours behind the scenes featurette, 2 deleted scenes, a video commentary, explanations about the restoration process, a picture gallery, a documentary, a short featurette, an interactive story and several interactive games.
Bottom line - the sweet story of "Bambi" gets a great treatment and is recommended especially for kids.
