    Your Opinions and Comments

I had no idea as to what I should expect from "The Talented Mr. Ripley". Despite the length of the movie (138 minutes) I was pleasantly surprised.
The movie deals with a rather simple issue of a person`s identity (singular or plural, depending on the person).
All the leads are absolutely brilliant and while the movie tends to be a bit slow at times, the story (at least to someone like myself, who has not read the book) is very interesting and the thrill is great.
The movie was beautifully shot mainly in Italy. The video transfer is great. The colors look great and the saturation and the contrast are very well balanced. As expected, there are no compression signs at all.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is very good. While this is mainly a conversation driven movie, the surrounds are used occasionally and they are used quite well.
The musical score includes some great Jazz music, which sounds really nice even if you don`t fancy Jazz that much (like myself).
    The menus are disappointingly static.
The extras are nice and include about 40 minutes of behind the scenes documentaries and interviews with the cast.
Bottom line - a great movie that makes you think about who you really are and who you really WANT other people to think you are. Beautifully shot. It certainly gets a thumb up from me.
