Chasing Amy is the third installment in the "New Jersey Trilogy" from award-winning writer/director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma).

Cult comic-book artist Holden (Ben Affleck) falls in love with fellow artist Alyssa (Joey Lauren Adams), only to be thwarted by her sexuality, the disdain of his best friend Banky (Jason Lee), and his own misgivings about himself.

Filled with Smith`s unique ear for dialogue and insight into relationships, Chasing Amy offers a thoughtful, funny look at how perceptions alter lives, and how obsession and self-doubt skew reality.

Chasing Ami is supposed to be a witty comic drama (thus the guys at Criterion decided to add the movie to their ever growing collection of "important classic and contemporary films").
Actually, the movie is nothing more than a regular comic drama of some sort. It`s not witty, almost never funny and hey - the acting ain`t that swell either.
The video transfer is good. There are no compression signs at all and the colors are nicely saturated.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is good. The surrounds are used occasionally. Wow... .
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include a commentary (which was originally recorded for the LD version of the movie - what a rip off!!!), 10 deleted scenes and some bloopers. Wait - is that all Criterion could come up with? Gosh... .
Bottom line - nothing extraordinary about this little puppy. Rent it once. Then laugh at Criterion`s face.
