Synopsis:
Based on Hideo Yamamoto`s ultra-violent hit manga comic of the same name, Takashi Miike`s extraordinary Ichi The Killer remains true to its source material every bloody step of the way. When yakuza boss Anjo disappears without warning, along with a prostitute and one hundred million yen, loyal but psychotic, sadomasochistic hitman Kakihara takes it upon himself to lead the search, employing various methods of torture, mutilation and murder as a means to an end.
Along the way, he meets sexy club hostess Karen and through her learns of the near-mythic Ichi, an armour clad, razor-booted assassin with incredible martial arts skills and serious emotional and psychological problems. Could Ichi be the one behind the disappearance of Kakihara`s boss? Ichi The Killer is one of the most graphically violent films ever to see the light of day, featuring countless scenes of explicit carnage and sadomasochistic torture laced with a deep vein of the blackest humour.

Director Takeshi Miike, has always been the censors centre of attention, just look at audition, Dead or alive and any of his previous work, it all borderlines on the sick and perverted. And Ichi The Killer is no surprise that it had 3 minutes trimed by the BBFC. The film it`s self is a weird roller coaster ride as a sick and twisted gang leader searching for his boss comes across Ichi and wishes to fight him in the ultimate battle. The film it`s self is extremely violent and if you don`t like that kind of thing then well stay well away.
Sound:
Good, the 5.1 really is used well, as Miike likes to include sickening sound effects. Look at Audition.

Ichi comes to us as a 2 disc set, but it`s really wasted. With a ok commentary and the rest just boring interviews repeating the same thing.
