"Taken" is all about alien encounters. It`s all about family and family values. It`s a beautifully written story that follows 3 families for over 50 years. It`s all about Spielberg.
With a playing time of almost 15 hours, this mini-series could`ve easily become boring and drag slowly. It doesn`t. Throughout the series, the pace is nicely kept and the story seems to flow naturally.
The video transfer is very good. There are no compression signs to be seen and the colors are beautifully saturated. For a made-for-TV mini-series, this is excellent.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is also very good. The surrounds are used throughout the series and help create a very nice sound envelope.
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include a rather ordinary behind the scenes 40-minute featurette. Not enough, Mr. Spielberg.
Bottom line - a great sci-if series with more than a touch of drama, and a great disc-set to match. Recommended.
