Synopsis:
Allen moves from New York City to the picturesque setting of early 1900s New England for this whimsical farce of lust, love, and longing among friends.
Borrowing from the Shakespearean comedy, the film tells a tale of three couples who enjoy a series of sexual entanglements during a stay in the country. Inventor Andrew passes his summer days tinkering and attempting to make love to his frigid wife, Adrian. Then Leopold, a pompous philosopher, and his future wife, the highly sexed Ariel, come for a visit. The second couple in the mix is Maxwell, a doctor, and his current girlfriend, Dulcy, a nurse who advises Adrian on her sex life. The stage is soon set for a series of magical meetings...
