Synopsis:
In the Last Bus to Woodstock the badly beaten body of the 18 year old insurance clerk Sylvia Kane is found in a pub car park by her boyfriend John Sanders. Called in to investigate, Morse finds a letter in Sylvia`s bag addressed to her boss containing a coded message. Unorthodox Inspector Morse begins to uncover a tangled web of hidden passion and corruption at the insurance office where Sylvia worked, aided as ~ways by practical Sergeant Lewis.
When valuable erotic paintings are stolen from a magnificent stately home in The Ghost in the Machine the owner Lord Hanbury himself disappears, Morse soon uncovers an elaborate scheme to cover up his death.
