Synopsis:
Thrill-seeking billionaire Thomas Crown (Brosnan) loves nothing more than courting disaster - and winning! So when his world becomes too stiflingly `safe` he pulls off his boldest stunt ever: stealing a priceless painting - in broad daylight - from one of Manhattan`s most heavily-guarded musems. But his post-heist excitement soon pales beside an even greater challenge, Catherine Banning (Russo).

A beautiful insurance investigator hired to retrieve the artwork, Catherine`s every bit as intelligent, cunning and hungry for adventure as he is. And just when Thomas realizes he`s finally met his match, she skillfully leads him into a daring games of cat and mouse that`s more intoxicating -and dangerous - than anything either of them has ever experienced before!

I bought this film after recommendation from a friend, and I will quite happily pass on his recommendation to anyone else. This is a stunning movie.

Thomas Crown (Pierce Brosnan) is a rich financial bod who becomes bored of life, so decides to steal some artwork. He only steals some Monet which is valued at 100 million dollars. Basically, the insurance company send an investigator to retrieve the painting, but of course, she falls in love with Crown (it has a similiarity to Out Of Sight) if you`ve seen that.

Well, the way the painting is stolen is very interesting, even more so at the end of the film, and leaves a question in your mind which I can`t stand, because I hate movies which leave unanswered questions (eg Ronin).

As should be expected with any DVD these days, the quality of the transfer is excellent, and the sound is nice and vibrant on my stereo speakers. The soundtrack throughout the movie is good, because it`s one of the first pieces of classical music I`ve found interesting and stimulating - or maybe it was just the accompanying images. The film is around 2 hours long and in my opinion, doesn`t drag on like some movies can.

They pack a nice lot of features onto the disc, with the 20 odd minute documentary "Making of the masterpiece" probably being the pick of the crop. The menus are nice as well, situated in a 360 degree art gallery with the scene selections as paintings.

Overall, this has to be one of my favourite movies of all time, which is quite an acheivement considering most of my films are action films. And action this is definitely not, but I suspect it would sustain the interest of any viewer.

An excellent print of one of the most boring and pointless films of recent years
