I had no expectations whatsoever from this movie, and it`s a good thing. It`s noisy, predictable, boring or in one word that`ll sum it up - crap.
If you are into fast cars and their engines` sounds, you`d enjoy this movie, no doubt. However, if you`re here for the plot and/or acting - oh dear.
The video transfer is good. There are no visible compression signs and the cars do look great. However, some of the CG in the movie is more than obvious (got a semi-plastic look) and the scenes involving blue screens look flat and lifeless.
The DTS and DD 5.1 soundtracks are both explosive. The surrounds are constantly used for pass by effects. 5 minutes into the movie - this gets irritating. The musical soundtrack is dreadful. It includes some hardcore rock&roll and a lot of rap crap.
The menus are animated with sound.
The extras include a commentary by the director, a behind the scenes look, explanations about the special effects, some production notes, a short featurette about making the movie PG-13 compliant, 8 deleted scenes (which don`t contribute a thing to the plot), 3 (horrible!!!) music videos, several storyboards, a multiple angle stunt scene (quite impressive) and some cool DVD-ROM features (information, songs, game demo and more). The extras are by far superior to the movie itself.
Bottom line - a bad movie yet a very good disk. Still, barely worths a rent.

Fast and the Furious is a dumb popcorn movie with no plot, and no decent acting either (Paul Walker cannot act. At all. Ever).

All this is served up with a decent picture, sound and extras.

Trust me the only thing good about this film is the cars.

The Fast and The Furious is a great action packed movie. The movie starts with Los Angeles cop Brian O`Connor (Paul Walker) who has to go undercover in a gang of street racers suspected of fencing stolen goods from hijacked trucks. The gang leader is Donimic Toretto (Vin Diesel) who is the King of The street racing world and is a very fast driver. From that point on there is a lot of races and speed and action. The DVD has a big list of special features like director`s commentary, the making of The Fast and The Furious, cut scenes and a bunch of other features. The DVD is a must-buy because it is fantastic.
