Possibly the best horror film ever made, this brilliant adaptation of Ira Levin's best-selling novel is the story of a loving young New York City couple who are expecting their first child. Her husband (John Cassavetes), an ambitious but unsuccessful actor, makes a pact with the devil that promises to send his career skyward. This is the very first time I`ve seen this movie. And I must admit - it gave me the creeps. However, without ruining it for anyone who hasn`t seen it yet, I must admit that I was *extremely* disappointed by the lack of any "punch line" at its conclusion.
The video transfer is good, considering the movie`s age. There are no compression signs, but as you can expect from a movie 35 years old, the picture isn`t so sharp.
The DD 2.0 soundtrack is adequate. The mono soundtrack is played through both front speakers and it is very effective.
The menus are still and silent.
The extras include 2 short behind the scenes featurettes, which aren`t very interesting.
Bottom line - an otherwise perfect movie is ruined by one of the worst endings one could imagine. Still, you simply gotta watch it.

Rosemary`s Baby is a movie that will never be repeated. This is not to subtract from a masterpiece of storytelling but the direction of hollywood. The blair witch project was praised for how it depicted the horror; nothing was shown. Rosemary`s Baby also uses the notion of leaving the horror to the audiences imagination. The movie focuses on the principle of witch craft through the eyes of rosemary.

I dont want to describe the film in any more detail. The story needs to be watched to fully understand its horror.

A masterpiece that needs to watched
