This BBC Scotland series is a gem. Having lived down in England for 4 years now, I was missing the Glasgae banter. I was told about the hilarity of the series a while ago by friend north of the border and wanted to see if it lived up to numerous claims people were making for it.

A length of time then passed and it came out on video. Then two months after the series 2 came out on video, the DVD arrived. Now two videos (3 episodes a tape) cost £13.50 each and the DVD (whole series) £21. Think I`ll buy the DVD on that count alone.

This comedy sketch show has just finished series 3 (a 4th series is in the pipeline) and has some pure quality characters. Some of the finer points of the jokes will be missed by the non Scottish possibly, as when the BBC showed it in England, it seemed that half the characters were missing and two series were edited into one?!? But having just completed re-running series 3 (first time though for England), the viewing figures seem to be growing. Although putting it out on a Friday night when I`m usually down the pub isn`t the best way to publicise it, and the DVD has been most welcome.

No extras, but considerably cheaper than buying the equivalent programmes on video, Chewin` The Fat on DVD is a must for fans of the show and well worth a look if you aren`t.
(This DVD has the classic boys at ice cream van sketch!)
