    Shut up, crime!

    8 / 10

    Introduction

Frank is an average guy who decides to transform himself into the superhero The Crimson Bolt after his wife Sarah leaves him for smooth-talking drug dealer, Jacques. What Frank lacks in superpowers, he makes up for with a trusty wrench in his one-man war on petty criminals. Powers or not, every superhero needs a sidekick. Enter Libby, a girl who works at Frank's local comic book store. Transforming into 'Boltie', Libby teams up with Frank to take Jacques down...

    Video, Audio, Extra Features

Everything probably looks and sounds great, as with any modern film that's only just escaped the clutches of the cinema. There's probably nothing to complain about.

I say probably becuase once again it has been deemed that reviewers are all criminals so we need a timecoded DVD-R to review the film. So I don't know what the final DVD will be like.

There might be some extras too, but I don't know.

    Conclusion

Superhero or just a dressed up vigilante? It's essentially good guys vs. bad guys, but the good guys have to reflect on what it is they're doing before they can carry on. There's also an amusing story-within-the-story, as Frank is inspired by TV series The Holy Avenger, which is hilarious. Like Frank, it's a bit mad, it's a bit messed up, and it's a bit weird, but its heart is in the right place...

This is quite a hard film to review, because it's so random. Part "comic-strip hero/Batman TV series" story, part "man having a breakdown" story, part "disaffected youth finding an outlet for pent up rage" story, part "revenge on the guy who stole your wife" story, part "drugs are bad" story, part "vigilante/freedom fighter" story, and part "whacked out surrealist nonsense" story.

I liked it and will definitely watch it again (it needs another viewing at least), but I'm not sure I could recommend it to anyone, as there's every chance that you'll hate it.
