    Synopsis:
Al Pacino gives an unforgettable performance as Tony Montana, one of the most ruthless gangsters ever depicted on film, in this gripping crime epic inspired by the 1932 classic of the same title.

Directed by hit-maker Brian DePalma and produced by Martin Bregman who brought both Godfather legends to the screen, Scarface follows the violent career of a small-time Cuban refugee hoodlum who guns his way to the top of Miami`s cocaine empire. With its intense screenplay by Academy Award winner Oliver Stone, driving musical score by Giorgio Moroder, and superb insights into Miami`s Latin lifestyle, Scarface joins the ranks of Hollywood`s greatest underworld dramas, as it lays bare the sordid power of the American drug scene.

Brian De Palma`s Masterpiece is one of the greatest of all gangster pictures. It has a good transfer, though it has some problems, most of the shots are solid. Great features including 17 minutes of outtakes and a 50 documentary on the making of the film + that excellent trailer for Carlito`s Way. Right now let`s have more De Palma films on DVD please and more HItchock.

    Feature:

Al Pacino excells as gangster Tony Montana in Brian De Palma`s blood soaked gangster master piece. Scarface has been said as one of the greatest gangster films ever made, personally i agree, this excells The Godfather Trilogy, which are good but don`t hit the spot. When watching this film you would never guess that it was directed by Palma and written by Oliver Stone. It feels like a Martin Scorsese movie, though Palma has done a better job, and the screenplay by Stone excellent, though the film does have constant and non-stop swearing (And I thought it was only Tarantino!). A great gangster film all round.

    Sound:

It`s a great shame that it`s only 2.0 Dolby. 5.1 would have been great DTS would have been even better.

    Picture:

Again it isn`t that great, let`s hope Universal clears it up when they release it again as a special edition.

    Extras:

Not much. Only a making of and out-takes, which are rubbish.
Lets hope that when it comes out again there`s more than this.
