Synopsis:
Two legends met for the first time in the Octagon when multiple UFC champion Randy Couture met the first ever UFC heavyweight champion Mark Coleman.

Both men are Hall of Famers who have yet to cross paths in their storied careers. Despite a combined age of 92, the two fighters both fancy one last run at the light-heavyweight championship, but they will have to dispose with the other in order to climb the ladder.

In the co-main event Nate 'The Great' Marquardt looks to strengthen claims for a shot at middleweight champion Anderson Silva with victory over decorated wrestler Chael Sonnen.

Also on the card Matt Serra makes his return to the Octagon to face off with Frank Trigg. Both men have proven to be experts in verbal warfare but who will back it up with their fists?

More interesting fights include a clash between Mike 'Quick' Swick and Paulo Thiago. Both men are extremely talented welterweight contenders looking to establish themselves near the top of the pile.

There is also the return of ju-jitsu expert Demian Maia as he looks to take out Dan Miller.

With legends and would-be legends making up a stacked card, UFC 109 will look to be just what it says on the tin, relentless.
