Review for WWE Extreme Rules 2015

6 / 10

Extreme Rules is generally when the results of Wrestlemania are shown to be either the right thing or not. With Seth Rollins as the new WWE Champion, this was his time to show all the naysayers that he was the right man for the job. This PPV however is a classic example of why many people cherry pick the PPVs that they watch and buy. I found myself more often than not fast-forwarding through huge chunks of this PPV and when you consider this is what the WWE expect you to invest your time and money in, you would think that more would be done to make them special.

That's not to say that it was all bad. For the most part it had its enjoyable moments, it just didn't have enough of them. Nikki Bella defeated Naomi in a Divas Championship which wasn't so bad and lasted almost ten minutes, which is a minor miracle for a Divas match. Dean Ambrose against Luke Harper in a Chicago Streetfight is almost a throwback to the old Attitude-era Hardcore matches with the two disappearing and then reappearing later. I found this hugely entertaining, though I do wish that more was made of the moves as it was difficult to keep up with what was going on and a little bit of selling would have made this even better.

Dolph Ziggler against Sheamus in a Kiss Me Arse match should have been great, but for some reason it just didn't work for me. Maybe it was the ending or maybe it just felt odd, but I just didn't enjoy it. This could also be said for the boring John Cena vs. Rusev Russian Chain Match which should have been Rusev getting back some of the momentum he lost at Wrestlemania, but instead felt more like a burial and WWE seem to be more interested in Lana (which, considering how gorgeous she is, is understandable).

The Tag Championship match between New Day and Tyson Kidd and Cesaro was fabulous. I really enjoyed what both teams did and though was only given less than ten minutes it makes me really wish they were given longer to show what they could do. Both have really shown how good tag team wrestling can be.

Roman Reigns against Big Show was a good match and certainly the perfect way to build on Reigns and show just how good he can be. Though I wish he was up against Rollins as his match against randy Orton was so dull that I almost fell asleep. The fact that it was a cage match and it simply didn't matter, it just felt like it was a stipulation for stipulations sake, not because it being in a cage actually meant anything. If anyone watched their Wrestlemania match and said they thought it was rushed (and I was one of them) we should all take that back as this was a nothing match which did nothing for either man.

Extreme Rules 2015 is not a bad PPV, just not a memorable one. If you are wanting to see some great tag team wrestling and a few entertaining matches, then this is something you may want to check out. I'm just not sure whether it is something you would want to watch more than once.
