    Review of Tigger Movie, The

    8 / 10

    Introduction

Poor old Tigger is having something of a mid-life crisis; a sort of Tigger menopause if you will.
Not content with the family of friends around him, Tigger sets off to find his own "family tree", which, with no thanks to Owl, he perceives as the largest, most "splendiferous" tree in the wood.

Tigger believes that if he finds this tree, he will find his real kin...

    Video

As you might expect of a modern Disney feature, the anamorphic transfer is stunning. Colours are deep, accurate and well saturated and there is no sign of any compression faults at all. It really is getting hard to see how the quality of some of these latest releases can ever be improved upon.

    Audio

No challenge to your surround system, but nevertheless involving and well defined. Ambient effects of the woods are nicely done with insect and bird noises all around. Vocal performance from all the characters is clear and dynamic.

The musical score is not quite up to the standard of classic titles such as "The Lion King", but there are some catchy songs in the mix to keep both adults and children humming along.

    Features

A good selection of extras will keep the little ones amused for some time. We have an interactive trivia quiz that reveals a bit more about the history of Winnie The Pooh should you answer all the questions correctly. Next up is matching game where you get a chance at matching various items to different Pooh characters There`s also a "Round My Family Tree" sing-along song that`s very well done, and a feature on making your own family tree. Pitched at just the right level for children, it is very easy to follow and offers a good introduction to the realms of genealogy.

For the readers amongst you, there is a read-along storybook of the Tigger Movie and a never before seen (thank goodness!) music video by Kenny Loggins. The obligatory theatrical trailer is included as is a selection of other trailers for Disney titles.

To sum-up then, a good selection of extras that will keep the small people happy for some time.

    Conclusion

I must admit to really enjoying the stories of Winnie The Pooh, whether it`s in written, audio or video form - I just get lost in his adventures. Having a small child obviously helps reduce the embarrassment level in the queue at my local cinema however...

Unfortunately, this movie will not rank as one of the best simply because it is not centered around Pooh himself. Tigger himself is fun in small doses, but for me can`t quite carry a whole 120 minutes. Thankfully, there is enough input from the other Pooh members to keep the variety and interest levels up.

But treat this as what it is - harmless family fun, and you won`t go wrong. My 6-year-old daughter loved every minute, and for most of the duration, so did her dad!
