    Review of Enter The Dragon

    9 / 10

    Introduction

This film is now 28 years old. But it`s probably *the* definitive martial arts movie, and unfortunately the last film that Bruce Lee completed.

As well as the more traditional martial arts plot themes of honour, families, temples etc. there`s also a slight James Bond twist to this, with Lee being asked to help bring down an evil Crime Baron (that other martial arts stalwart the "big boss").

An excellent cast (Jim Kelly, John Saxon, see if you can spot Jackie Chan in the film too) some great fights and all very well produced and directed.

    Video

A very good anamorphic transfer considering how old this film is. There is some film grain evident and there are a few marks on the print, but it would be overly harsh to knock the disc down for this. It`s about as good as you will see this film, and the visuals all have that 1970s feel to them, which just adds to the film even more. Look out for the haircuts and some of the nice clothes too.

    Audio

A 5.1 mix ? On a 1973 film ? Yes, it`s really true. The audio has had a full remix and sounds great. Lots of fight noises to enjoy, and the excellent Lalo Schifrin score is further enhanced by the remix. You`ve never heard it so good.

    Features

The best extra on the disc is Linda Lee Caldwell`s insight into the film, which I won`t spoil by saying too much about. A must watch for fans of the film and the man.

There`s also some old black and white footage of Bruce Lee practising his art, 2 documentaries (one old, one new) and an audio commentary track which is a nice addition but overall it is a bit of a letdown.

    Conclusion

A brilliant martial arts film presented on the definitive DVD. Great visuals, great sound and uncut. If you`re a fan of the film, this is the version to get. If you`ve not seen this film and you like your martial arts films, get hold of a copy now!
