Review of Arlington Road

5 / 10

Video

Michael Faraday (Jeff Bridges) is a Georgetown University professor lecturing on terrorism. When new neighbours, the Langs, (Tim Robbins and Joan Cusack) move in across the road from Faraday and his 10 year old son (Spencer Clark) all seems well at first. Faradays` suspicions are aroused when he finds incorrectly addressed mail in the Lang`s mailbox. Faraday then begins to hunt into Oliver Langs (Robbins) past with devastating consequences.
The transfer is on the whole good, at a standard that is expected of dvd today. Contrast is also good. It is presented in anamorphic 2.35:1.

Audio

The audio is produced in 5.1 Dolby Digital, which I couldn`t fault, although there was little need for it in this thriller which was more memorable for its suspense than explosions.

Features

There are no extras at all, which for me was a big disappointment. The only redeeming feature is the booklet which comes with the disc, however this is not as good as it seems since it is divided into three languages.

Conclusion

This film is cleverly thought out, but is lacking in depth and passion. Bridges and Robbins give solid, well worked performances and Joan Cusack is as accomplished as ever. Overall the film is worth watching, but will not blow you away!

As has already been stated in other reviews of this dvd, good film, but poor as a dvd. When purchasing a film although not paramount, a major factor in my decision is the extra`s and as this has virtually none, this can be seen to be a big disappointment when compared to the region 1 version which has loads of features. Therefore if you wish to buy this dvd and have a multi-region player go for the region 1 version which will be cheaper, and with some additional features
