Review of Twilight Zone, The: Vol 15

    7 / 10

    Introduction

The Twilight Zone series of DVDs consists of themed DVDs with each disc containing a central theme to the four episodes it contains.

The tagline for disc 15 is "Mind The Signpost... The Twilight Zone Ahead!" and it contains a set of episodes about life-changing events. The episodes (as is usual for these discs) span the whole lifetime of the twilight zone, from 1959 right through to 1963.

The Twilight Zone was the first series of this kind, predating, and in some ways making possible, such series as Star Trek and The Outer Limits.

    Video

These episodes date from the late Fifties and early Sixties and as such are in black and white - they have, however been digitally remastered for these dvds - and sucessfully so.

The picture quality is good, probably better that was originally seen! There are no obvious, intrusive digital artifacts and the transfer is free from dust and scratches.

    Audio

Dolby Digital is used - in mono as would be expected from the era.

The sound is excellent and clear - they`ve done a good job. I`ve watched a few of these discs now and the quality is both good and consistent throughout the series.

    Features

As usual, there`s a lot of information about Rod Sterling, the creator of the Twilight Zone, comprehensive episode reviews, cast information and a season by season commentary. The only complaint really is that the majority of the information is repeated from disc to disc on the series....

You also get lots of subtitles.

    Conclusion

Excellent and a must have for Twilight Zone fans everywhere!

The quality is excellent, the whole series is a must have really!

Bring on the rest of `em I say.
