    Review of Trippin`

    4 / 10

    Introduction

Trippin` is a fairly typical coming-of-age in America film so if you are a fan of the genre you`ll probably like it.

In a nutshell, Greg (Deon Richmond) spends his life daydreaming (trippin`) - so much so that he pretty much loses his grasp on reality. Reality for Greg is high school and the looming senior prom (are you getting all the clichés yet?). Greg and his mates have to find cash and dates for the prom in a hurry so they come up with a cunning plan etc etc etc.

    Video

4:3 full frame video from an pretty average master gets you a pretty average DVD picture, somewhat better than video but not jaw droppingly so. There aren`t any obvious digital artefacts and the colours are nice and bright but sharpness could be better and the darker areas look muddy on occasion.

Not brilliant but certainly not terrible - better than a cassette.

    Audio

No Dolby Digital here, just a very average Pro Logic track.

The centre, voice channel is tinny and slightly muffled which is a shame as this is a dialogue-lead film.

The music score however brings a few brownie points, being nicely balanced, well thought out and catchy.

    Features

    This section intentionally left blank.
(and it still has more features than the DVD which lacks even subtitles!)

    Conclusion

Yes, it is stuffed full of clichés and yes it`s terribly formulaic but there are some good laughs to be had and it is certainly not the worst film of this genre about!

The acting is good considering the formula, the music is engaging and I was entertained. Recommended only to those who are fans, especially when the RRP is £19.99.

Oh and if your need subtitles you are out of luck.
