Review for WWE Tagged Classics: Hits From The Heartbreak Kid & Heartbreak Express Tour

7 / 10

When Shawn Michaels retired last year WWE and the wrestling world lost one of the best performers to ever grace the squared circle. There may have been more popular, more technical or more successful superstars, but for sheer match quality there is no one that beats the Heartbreak Kid. The reason why he dubbed himself the Icon, The Main Event, The Showstopper is that when HBK was wrestling you could guarantee that it would be the best match of the night. And unlike other stars who gradually got worse during their career due to injuries and lack of fundamental skills, Shawn Michaels, much like fine wine, he only got better and better.

These two sets feature almost two different Shawn Michaels. Hits from the Heartbreak Kid features his Intercontinental period in 1993. He faces the likes of Bret Hart, Razor Ramon and teams up with Diesel in some great tag matches.
Heartbreak Express Tour features his period in 1996 from his first World Title win to his second at the Royal Rumble. This features matches against the likes of British Bulldog, Sycho Sid, Diesel and Mankind. This also features his Iron Man Match against Bret Hart .

Both sets are cleverly edited and don't include the full matches, but enough is shown and as I say it is cleverly edited enough for you to not notice this. A lot of the matches are great and the matches against Bret Hart and the one against Mankind is probably the best of Shawn Michaels' career. It is true that HBK has had some great sets over the years looking at his career, but if you would like more of him in his prime and a few matches that don't appear on those sets, then this is a great set to have.

If you are a fan of Shawn Michaels (and who isn't?) this is a great set to have and even if you do own his other sets this is still a good set to have to fill in the blanks that may not have been covered. However there is enough great stuff on here that even if you do own those sets, you will still enjoy watching one of the best superstars that the WWE ever had.
