Trailers.
The Final Straw for me was Casino Royale, and the release of the 3-disc Deluxe Edition. The definitive DVD coverage of Casino Royale... NOT!
Great mini-docs on all sorts of aspects of the making of the film; comentaries; storyboard sequences and trailers for 'Blu-Ray, Hancock, 21, and Vantage Point' No trailer for the eponymous movie.
Movies have got to be advertised. That is a given constant. And the inclusion of trailers for new movie releases on a DVD only makes sense (although the propensity for placing them right at the beginning of a disc before even allowing the viewer to get near a menu is beyond annoying!).
My discussion point is that I believe that a movie's trailer can say a lot. They are the real hook for new movies. They tease us with fleeting images of awe inspiring occurrences. They give us a feel of the movie's tone. They often show us things that never even occur in the movie we eventually see! And, let's face it - they can often be a damn sight more fun than the movie they're advertising!!!
Trailers are carefully constructed to tickle those parts of us in need of our next celluloid fix and they do it very well (the Iron man crew even made a very funny faux-documentary on it's own trailers - that it doesn't even hold on the disc!!!!!).
Not only this, but I think that trailers can be a nice snippet of a period's culture. Compare trailers from even 20 years ago to those of today and see what I mean.
Trailers, I believe should be a compulsory addition to any movie release. Not an 'extra' but as necessary as chapter stops, and subtitles.

I agree but only if they include 'that voice', that is the sign of a good trailer (even if it's bad...).

Erm... I agree that a trailer is important. Sometimes the build up is better than the release

eg. The Phantom Menace. Terminator 3. The Dark Knight.

Sometimes they are a bit useless and DVDs can become a bit overkill with trailers... I seem to recall the StarWars prequels having a dozen or so...

The teaser and the official is all we need thanks George!
