Falling for stranded playwright Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody) on the voyage she is taken prisoner on arrival to the island by the indigenous tribe's people and left as a sacrifice for the ape-god Kong.

Ann begins a relationship with Kong in which she learns the meaning of humanity and compassion as he protects her from the dangers lurking on the island. Jack leads a successful search party into the island to rescue Ann but the mighty Kong is also captured and brought back to New York.
