"Can this series have much of a life though at the rate it's progressing? Surely after one season it'll be into The Walking Dead territory and as much as I may love these characters by then, it could just be more of the same."

I was only talking about the same thing to friends last night, The general thought was that the show might have a downshift in pace building to a big finale leading to maybe the second season taking place in a different city such as Atlanta as the main characters try to outrun the "Infection" leading to possible crossovers to The Walking Dead season 1/2 (The Dixon Brothers or other previous characters)
However we all agreed that the show probably wouldn't make it past a third season without becoming The Walking Dead.

"Anyone know if the AMC channel is available in HD?"
According to BT it will be on channel 381 in HD and channel 332 in SD.

On Sky it will be channel 192 if you have the BT Sport package. It doesn't specify HD on Sky, though :\

Also, the first episode will be shown for free on the BT Showcase Channel (Freeview channel 59).

Thanks Gareth.

I have BT Sports via Sky so it looks like I only have the SD option.

Wasn't that impressed by the opener. Too slow for my liking and the church scenes were filler rubbish. Will keep with it though.

watched it last night on replay... didn't capture my attention 1 1/2hrs that if they cut out the breaks would have been 45 minutes!

So the same as every other American TV show then..?

The second episode was better. The pace has quickened and the beginning of the end has arrived.

Watched the fourth episode last night and, to put it mildly, I am so disappointed with this show.

The pacing is shocking, the acting is wooden (aside from the main female lead), the characters aren't engaging, there is no suspense whatsoever and there seem to be huge gaps in the story-arc.

When does TWD start again, cos I need my zombie fix?!!

Glad to hear this tbh as the premise and the couple of snippets i caught didn't exactly fill me with confidence so will delete the 1st 4 i downloaded and watch the other new shows that have me interested, and of course the Strain which is practically the walking vampires :)

I'm enjoying it! I quite like the whole perspective on how citizens are being kept in the dark about what is going on.

Yeah I'm also enjoying it. The first episode was a bit meh, but its slow burn approach is quite effective and the fourth episode is where things really start to happen. This isn't TWD, and it's not meant to be. If you take the title of the show literally, TWD is about Rick and the other survivors (who are literally the walking dead) and in this show the ones to fear certainly appear to be the 'authorities'.

I don't think the acting is any worse than most US TV shows. TWD wasn't great when it began and has had plenty of rough patches. This is only four episodes in and because we aren't neck deep in zombies people are writing it off. We already have a show for that and this is more about the slow collapse of civilisation. You can absolutely imagine things playing out like this in a crisis as well.

The first episode wasn't the best but all episodes since have been really good, It makes a refreshing change to have a constructive story instead of the Zombie of the week style episode we were getting from The Walking Dead.

The walking dead wasn't as fast paced as people remember (try re-watching season 2 again) until season 4, Even then the pace was staggered.

However I'm still looking forward to season 6 now that Morgan (the ass kicker) is back.

Why the phuq is the cheap Johnny Depp lookalike still wearing the same phuqen clobber he stole from the old man at the hospital. FFS he has been living in his own house for 9 days according to the timeline of the series so surely he has a wardrobe filled with scheitte of his own .
