I've never understood why McCann has Doctor status but Cushing doesn't? Why is that?

Tom Baker, by the way. And SJS as my fave assistant. I adored that woman when I was a kid.

McCoy by a country mile. Just couldn't watch it.

I suppose him and assistant MEL (bonnie Langford) was a bit drastic with her screaming al the time, but when ACE (Sophie Aldred) with a backpack of TNT arrived it got a lot better, and the stories and acting was good.

I was sorry to see the end of Doctor Who at that time for those two, as they were really getting into it, with dark forboding stories, when Doctor who ended (for a long long  time).

My worst was Colin Baker, as never liked him as an actor, and he if I remember said that he did not like the part as it was just a job to him, and it showed.

I still watched it though just to see the stories, as most Doctor Who stories are good.

I like both the Bakers actually, but post Tom Baker the show was crippled somewhat by the creatives. Peter Davison was the first Doctor whose stories I watched all the way through. Tom Baker I spent most of the time hiding behind a settee, and really only discovered him through the episode novelisations and the re-runs. Colin Baker was heading in a really interesting direction, but he never really got the chance to develop. Sylvester McCoy's first season was a car crash. Bertie Bassett and Ken Dodd bad, but the second showed promise as he revealed a dark side to his character.

Of nu-Who, I really liked what Eccleston did for the character, but Tennant is my favourite of the new lot. I never really liked Smith, and Capaldi... the clothes just don't fit yet. Like to see what he does in the new series before I make up my mind. Wouldn't mind a season of John Hurt, or really a couple of seasons of Paul McGann. It's time travel! Why not have some older/unseen Doctors' adventures on TV?

Peter Cushing was a great Dr Who... for me thought no one touches the madness of Tom Baker!

As for worst whilst McCoy will always be a hard act to follow... this latest incumbent has switched me off completely!

Cushing played a Human (one heart\no regenerative ability\No respiratory by pass system\no collective hive mind etc ) Doctor with the surname of Who (Susan Who\Jenny Who Barbara Who) who just happened to have invented a Time Space Machine built into a police box in his back garden called actually TARDIS in a film based off the original TV series about a guy on the run from his own people (with those prior mentioned abilities) in a stolen obsolete TARDIS (generic name like car bus).

McGann was seen to actually regenerate from McCoy & thats why Cushing doesn't count in the TV continuity he runs parallel to it.

Ackward! what a coincidence having a Who name, but that's the correct answer. If he had been Chinese he could have called been Doctor Woo

As long as TV buffs believe all this stuff, its OK
Its like in Star Trek, where the early Klingons had human type skulls then later on had craggy heads, and then they had to come up with some excuse to justify it all.

So a bit like the old Whover/Vacuum cleaner debate.

New Who: Matt Smith

To me both of these capture everything I love about Doctor Who completely.
