Doctor Who, Who is your Doctor ?

I've been watching Doctor Who since 1975 and it seems everybody I know that has watched it has their own Doctor.
Mine of course was Tom Baker,My oldest daughter's Doctor is Matt Smith, However We've just started revisiting the 2005 restart and after watching all the episodes I'm now drawn to claiming that David Tennant is the best doctor so far (Baker is still my Doctor of course).
Maybe it's down to the RTD era as they had some amazing stories like Blink,The Stolen Earth (Bring back Davros), Tooth & Claw,Doomsday,School reunion & Silence in the library.
I still love the show and think that Peter Capaldi is doing a great job.

At the risk of upsetting Dr Who fans, who is the second actor in the above picture?

I think the first doctor I remember is Tom Baker but the one I disliked enough to stop watching was Sylvester McCoy but I didn't like the two who followed Tom Baker much either, but McCoy was the one responsible for me never watching again until the reboot with Christopher Eccleston.
And having watched The Hobbit recently my opinion of Sylvester McCoy's acting hasn't changed much. I stopped watching after David Tennant, got sick of the endless recycling of bad guys like The Daleks.

Well Paul McCann shown above was never the Doctor, as all he did was star in a pathetic American version of a film for two hours. One of the worst films I have endured. Then they put him in the line up of regenerations! What!

All the rest really earned the title as TV Doctors, as they had thousands of TV hours under their belt. If they wanted to include film Doctors then Peter Cushing should have been added, as he stared in two iffy Dalek Films.

Considering the rest (which are the real Doctors), they were the real stars, but overall, Tom Baker was the Doctor to me. It all depends on 'who' you were brought up on.

No upsetting, its hard to remember 50 years of Who.

Patrick Troughton, the second doctor in the black and white days of TV, who's gimmick was playing the flute while thinking about how to beat the baddies.

His main side kick was Jamie (a highland warrior), and when you look at the ice warriors of his time they were guys in underwater swimming suits with big headphones

Though if I remember the Yeti, was one of his formidabe foes.

McCann became canon because he has recorded 70+ audio books and tell you the truth I'd still like to see a movie of him as the Doctor.

McGann definately counts (Journal of impossible things portrait & Night Of The Doctor, along with the Atraxi\The Next Doctor or any other montage).

Classic I'm torn between Pertwee & Baker (I hadn't watched anything prior thanks to family circumstances).

Relaunch Matt Smith primarily for his Troughton pixie quality & bombastic speeches.

Yeti only appeared twice in the 60''s + cameos.

My outlook on life is positive & carefree, I'm positive that I'm a pessimist & I don't care what what you think.

Never has so little had to be explained by me to so many so often.

I suppose my Doctor (being an awld b'stard) should be William Hartnell as I can remember watching the first episode. I'd have to say that by choice it would have to fall between Pertwee and Baker and the final choice would have to be Baker. I liked Pertwee but he always took to straight a run at it for me, prefered Bakers more off the wall approach.

Capaldi's doing a fine job though I was already a fan of his after Richelieu in The Musketeers.

Are we allowed a worst?
McCoy by a country mile. Just couldn't watch it.

Tom Baker definitely mine, with the reboot I really enjoyed Ecclesson and was disappointed he left after 1 season, after that my 1st thought was that Tennant was too young but he really did become fantastic, Matt Smith i really disliked and nearly stopped me watching that he was so annoying.....I think the new Doctor being older has brought a new or should that be old dimension and I am loving it just now :)

Tom Baker will always be my favourite, with McCoy my least, when it comes to the TV series anyway. I actually like McCoy a lot in the radio episodes, so I think a lot of the blame for the TV lies with perhaps his height and the production/scripts.

It's hard to pick from the new ones, as I like them all about equally for different reasons, with perhaps the exception of Eccleston who was the least doctorish of them all.
