The truth is right here, and it’s amazing: After 13 years off the air, The X-Files is officially returning to Fox as a limited series.
Stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are back on board, along with creator Chris Carter.
“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” Carter said. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

6 part series starts 24th Jan in USA, and will be on Channel 5 in February.
TV guide suggests like before there will be an ongoing story, but each week will have self contained one. Obviously Mulder and Scully are back, but also Skinner, Reyes, Cigarette-Smoking Man, and Lone Gunmen (never saw their spin off show).
just saw a short advert before a youtube movie, and looked like what you'd expect :)
i remember I used to love it, but then towards the end just thinking "end it please, just give me closure" but ultimately being unsatisfied with the finale, but I don't really remember much about it!

Loved the X files, creepy as hell
Interesting fact: The pilot episode of the 'Lone gunmen' mysteriously predicted 911 type senario, which aired six months before it happened (que: X files song).....

I used to watch this religiously on BBC2 but then one season they started moving it around a lot in the schedules and also I think it got a bit silly, and now I can't remember how far I got with it to pick it up where I left it. :/
And there are a bit too many seasons to start again.

Could they all not just slow down or take a break.
This thread just bought to mind a similar one I enjoyed and watched even more avidly Millenium with Lance Henriksen.
Just had to IMDB him to remember the title and we'd better keep an eye on his health, 75 and still doing one helluva lot of work.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

First episode...
SPOILER:
Is it me or is the big plot twist about it being an entirely human conspiracy a bit like Bobbie Ewing waking up in the shower? Mind you I guess it means I don't have to worry about having missed the last few seasons of the original...
