I suspect that may have been the point...

Story was dire but the rich comedic vein of cock waving was very funny.

Fan-bloody-tastic. I imagine the younger kids will have been terrified out of their wits! Loving the darker tone with this series.

Excellent episode, unlike the last couple.  Really thought provoking and a new timeline for Clara...

One thing that's really becoming apparent to me was that the reason Jenna was so poorly received during the Matt Smith tenure was because she was paired with Matt Smith. Being with Capaldi has allowed her to shine, and she was bloody awesome in this episode. The best description I've ever heard about her was on these hallowed pages. 'One thigh-slap away from panto'. I have a very strong inkling it's going to be harder to say goodbye to her this yuletide than most previous detractors would care to admit.

Which in itself was probably one of the best I've seen in a very long time. The atmosphere created by the visuals and music was impeccable, and Capaldi really had his bonkers Tom Baker hat on

Amazing. Damn you Moffat

A very interesting episode, and glad we have seen the back of Matt Smith as Doctor, and the dismal 'river moon' arc.

SPOILER:
Oh, no 'welcome to heaven' woman this week, hmmm

Well that was a breathtaking episode, Capaldi, well I have run out of superlatives for him, i really was looking forward to him getting the job but didnt dream that he would be so right for the part, last week I said this episode looked more like a behind the sofa one, didnt realise it was an under the bed one :), as said elsewhere Clara (who I wasnt a fan of tbh) was magnificent, the pink character looks like he is going to fit in famously, the pace of the episode was absolutely perfect and the character interaction magnificent.

On a side note, most know i wasnt a Matt Smith fan but for me this showed how a dark, crazy, scary doctor should be without the overacting, really top drawer I believe this is the best episode since blink and the build up with some lighter episodes brought home the dark doctor even more.....roll on next week :)

Actually, though I know there's not much love for Smith here, I don't agree with this. I think Clara has improved simply because she has had to. She was really too thrilled to be around in her first series, and it showed. She has really upped her game for this series, and while it may help that she has a more experienced lead to play to, I think she has just probably realised she has had to get better.

Luckily for us she has, and I really like her this time round.

I'm really loving this Doctor and the new tone. That's not to say I didn't love the Burton-esque fairytale Smith reign though. I kinda still miss it really, but yes Capaldi is awesome.

Didn't like this one at all. Struggled to get interested in it. In fact it's the first time I've ever just switched off Who and done something else.
