Ooh, just caught up with this thread. My thoughts so far:

I like Capaldi.
Not enjoying the storylines so far - both episodes have left me a bit meh.
Fed up with Jenna now. Want a new companion asap.
Love the new opening credits. Don't mind the musical remix. It's always nice to have a change for each incarnation. Works for me.
Fed up with lizard lady and her entourage. I hope they don't come back during this season. They have gotten way too comical now.
Really not sure about the ongoing underplot with the weird lady serving everyone tea.

I shall stick with it, but Moffat needs to buck his ideas up and write some good stories like "Girl in the Fireplace" and "Blink" again. This week's idea of rehashing The Fantastic Voyage for the sake of showing off all their wonderful CGI was stupid. Give us some originality, please, and that does not mean bloody Robin Hood.

By the way, those teleport bracelet thingies and last week's weird multicoloured lens device were designed by children who entered a CBBC competition. There was also a sonic hatpin, but I haven't seen that yet - might come later, or I blinked and missed it. So you can't blame the props department for it looking like something else, because young'uns designed it.

Well that was a lot more fun than I ever expected it to be.

Funnest episode I remember for quite a while. Made even more awesome by the presence of Ben Miller, Rusty Goffe and Bodiam Castle, which I visited with the family not 3 weeks ago.

Oddly enough, the guys on the gate never mentioned the BBC had been filming lately. Also, and to my shame;

SPOILER:
never twigged Marian

Kudos

Thought Capaldi was much more comfortable as the doctor in this one, probably helped having a Mark Gatis script.

Funny how everyone remembers these as pure brilliant 'New doctor' episodes, and I agree we do need more memorable episodes like that.

This weeks Robin Hood episode was OK, but easily forgotten.

When you think back to the 'Old Doctors' each story was a classic...

The green death.
Robots of death.
to name but two.

That was a hoot from start to finish....really enjoyable, as for old doc stories being classics well, we all remember them as a part of our childhood and probably see it now thru the proverbial rose tinted i think, I think this one was the most kid oriented episode so far while next weeks looks more of a behind the sofa episode.....keep it up I say because these 1st 3 episodes have helped me put Matt Smith behind me :)

Hate the new episodes? Then this is for you...

I think that might be rose tinted glasses. Whilst I enjoy them, far too many of the Pertwee stories were strung out to 6 episodes when 4 would have been enough. Some of the Baker ones are good but forgettable, and let's not even start looking at how it went downhill when Baker left.
Some of those are memorable for entirely the wrong reasons. :)

If you want a reminder of what the original episodes were like, set your PVRs for 10 am every weekday morning on Horror (Freesat), where they run two episodes back to back.

Caught the Tom Baker serial The Androids recently, and half of Mark of the Rani with Colin Baker. The stories were good, the effects and sets not so much, the character writing isn't great, and the tales were seriously padded to get them to four episodes, with a cliffhanger at the end of three of them.

So yes, rose tinted specs indeed.

I thought yesterday's was alright, certainly fun, although I found Robin to be as annoying as the Doctor found him. I kept getting flashbacks to Maid Marian and her Merry Men instead.
