The Musketeers

Anybody else watching?
First reaction when I saw it trailed was 'Oh no, not again. How many times can you remake the same story'
Heard a couple of favourable reviews so I've just tried the first episode.
Hooked. Just the right mix of humour and derring do. Musketeers seem well cast and Peter Capaldi as Richelieu does a very nice line in evil.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

I recorded it, but not watched yet, was hoping it would be good.

Thought it was a bit vicious as you would expect Musketeers to be all fencing and jousting and a jolly romp with jokes and the like, with not too much violence.

Instead we get SPOILER.....

SPOILER:
The baddies wife get taken into the woods and divorced with a bullet through the head. Not exactly a show for a family audience.

This is not the musketeers type of show we are used to from the past, I expect now we will get torture scenes next week, by the way its going.

You have to establish what a bastard Richelieu is, and offing his girlfriend fits the bill, I'd have thought.

Not a very high bar to clear.

Appreciate that, but could still trip before they attempt their Fosbury Flop...

Yup definately better than Atlantis & enjoyable, I'm glad it's a little more adult than other programs in the same "grouping" (Robin Hood, Merlin & Atlantshit) while it's got to be said treading the same basic formula.
