Yes, in the books Tyrion has much more motivation in that:

Jaime confesses that Tyrion's first wife Tysha wasn't a whore as he had previously told him (at Tywin's command) and that she was the crofter's daughter she claimed to be and genuinely loved Tyrion.
I guess they left it out so that casual viewers wouldn't be asking "who??".

Thanks Gareth, that's exactly what I heard.
It's almost unforgivable for them to have left that out.

SPOILER:
One of my favourite Tyrion scenes is when he is playing the drinking game with Bronn and Shay and the story of Tysha comes up. It was very emotional piece and explained why he would try to hide Shay from Tywin for the next 2 Seasons.

Knowing the truth would have made Shays betrayal worse, but Tywins death all the more satisfying

Can you tell me from the books if 'the hound' survives, as someone might come along and save him?

I am asking because there are differences between book and TV series and he has got to be a more likeable character in a brutish sort of way

His fate is uncertain, in that he doesn't explicitly die in either the books or the TV show. However, if he is still alive after Arya refuses the gift of mercy and abandons him, he hasn't appeared in either books 4 or 5 and therefore probably won't be in the show for a while either, if ever.

IMO, he's dead.

Pity, not what I wanted to hear.

That is amazing, it's so easy to forget how much effort they put in to shots we see for seconds.

Not getting enough GoT? Telltale are releasing an adventure based on the series, much in the same way their The Walking Dead adventures are based on that series, ie. a set of new characters occupying the same world.
