RE: Missing Doctor Who episodes found

I think the Africa rumour is true. I just think that the gossip hounds are reading it the wrong way. A lost archive containing just two episodes would be utterly bizarre, that would be more like a box forgotten in a garden shed.

I think that they probably did find a big wodge of tapes in an archive, hundreds of episodes. But of those hundreds of episodes, only a few would be those lost to the BBC, the others would be duplicates of shows which do exist in the BBC archives. People probably heard the three figure number, put two and two together and got 96.

Any lost Doctor Who recovered is a cause for celebration. How loud the woo-who I utter depends on what's been recovered.

Regards my skepticism in earlier posts, I have a hat marinading in preparation for Thursday tea.

They really don't like to give too much away, do they? How many???

It had better not just be the two we already know about!

If it's just a couple of episodes recovered, I think we would have heard by now, even before any restoration work what they were & the potential impact to complete stories .

If it's a mixed bag of content, then it would have be an earlier announcement to the effect [BBC_Newsreader_Voice] Lost episodes of TV shows, among them episodes of Z-Cars, Adam Adamant Lives, Doctor Who have been recovered from Xxxxxxxxx [/BBC_Newsreader_Voice].

On the basis that there appears to be reporting on it from BBC Entertainment news & a press conference, without any outright denial compared to earlier in the year.

So without sounding negative, I'm hoping for complete missing stories & a number of stories that can be restored to their (or very nearly) entire length rather than just one off sole survivor episodes.

I'm very excited that two such classic stories have been recovered, but I am sad that they are going straight to download/DVD rather than being aired on TV first.

I'll try and rent them from Lovefilm, I guess. Dying to see both, but can't afford to buy them.

Ooh, jazzed about Web of Fear.

One of my earliest encounters with Doctor Who was through the Target novelisation, and I loved Web of Fear so much, I kept borrowing it from the library. The TV show might have sent me behind the sofa at that age, but I could handle the books just fine!

Did I just hear a Woo-hoo echoing down the M1, Mark?
